About The Position

Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Senior Manager, Robotics Commercial Insights & Strategy to join our MedTech Surgery business, based in Santa Clara, CA with an alternate location of Cincinnati, OH. This role serves as a strategic leader within Global Strategic Insights (GSI), partnering closely with Global Strategic Marketing and cross-functional stakeholders to shape business-critical decisions for robotic surgery platforms. The position goes beyond traditional market research, focusing on owning the insights agenda, aligning diverse stakeholders, and translating complex data into clear strategic direction. The Senior Manager will act as the central orchestrator of customer and market understanding, connecting internal teams, external partners, and multiple data sources to deliver high-impact, decision-ready insights. This role offers direct influence on a category-defining market, shaping strategy in robotic surgery, and provides front-row access to innovation decisions, informing product development, portfolio strategy, and investment priorities at the earliest stages. It operates in a high-complexity, high-growth environment at the intersection of strategy, analytics, and commercial execution, navigating global, cross-functional dynamics with meaningful autonomy. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, analytics, or related field
  • 8 years of relevant experience
  • 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following: Market research / customer insights, Global or regional marketing, Strategy, analytics, or management consulting
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a matrixed, cross-functional environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders, priorities, and timelines
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work in fast-paced, evolving business contexts
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to distill complex information into clear, compelling insights

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading or supporting market research and insights initiatives
  • Familiarity with primary research design, methodologies, and learning plans
  • Experience managing external vendors or agency partners: in end-to-end vendor and project management, including drafting RFPs, evaluating proposals, negotiating scope, managing timelines and budgets, and overseeing data quality
  • Exposure to healthcare, medtech, or capital equipment environments
  • Experience supporting product strategy, innovation, or commercialization efforts
  • Familiarity with forecasting, analytics, or strategic planning processes
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent)
  • Excel proficiency
  • Proven ability to frame business problems and translate them into structured analyses or learning plans

Responsibilities

  • Own and prioritize the global insights agenda, defining and managing a portfolio of high-impact insights initiatives.
  • Align research priorities with business strategy, product lifecycle, and commercial needs.
  • Lead end-to-end insights strategy and execution, translating business questions into structured learning plans.
  • Design and oversee primary and secondary research, analytics, and synthesis.
  • Integrate multiple data sources into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment in a matrixed organization by partnering with global, regional, and functional stakeholders (marketing, R&D, finance, strategy).
  • Influence decision-making through data-driven storytelling and executive-ready outputs.
  • Manage external vendor ecosystem, including selecting, scoping, and overseeing external research partners and agencies to ensure quality, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Navigate complexity and change by balancing competing priorities, shifting timelines, and evolving business needs, bringing structure, clarity, and momentum in ambiguous environments.
  • Enable business impact by delivering insights that shape innovation strategy, market entry, forecasting, and investment decisions.
  • Drive a culture of insight-led decision-making across the organization.
