About The Position

The Senior Manager contributes to the overall success of the Global Finance, Regulatory Risk and Governance (1B) group ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s mandate and overall objectives. The incumbent must possess proven financial and accounting acumen including relationship and influencing skills and ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. In addition, the Senior Manager is expected to develop sound solutions and where required, implement or coordinate implementation with cross-functional partners. The position requires solid understanding of the Financial Reporting and Regulatory environment, knowledge of banking and experience managing complex initiatives related to the end-to-end processes for financial and regulatory reporting, including reconciliation and attestation, and Internal Control to mitigate risks and be able to take a consultative mindset when making recommendations.

Requirements

  • Business/Accounting degree.
  • 8+ years in Financial Services.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting (including IFRS), solid understanding of financial, management and regulatory reporting principles; knowledgeable of the Bank’s products, operations, and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of inherent and residual risks impacting banking and finance, internal controls, and evaluation.
  • Knowledgeable of the Bank’s products, operations, and procedures.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI etc.).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently across Finance at various management levels.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative working relationships and contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment.
  • Highly flexible, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines with accuracy and completeness.
  • Experience in leading major initiatives across multiple areas and stakeholders.
  • Experienced in leading Financial and Regulatory initiatives.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Accounting designation is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Oversee the end-to-end execution of the Bank’s General Ledger attestation process ensuring alignment with reporting, governance, and internal control requirements, including oversight of exceptions, issue escalation and remediation.
  • Coordinate and enhance the governance, risk management and Global Finance Issue Management processes for internal controls across Global Finance, including review and assessment of control deficiencies and reporting issues, thematic and root cause analysis of operational weaknesses, and preparation of dashboards and reports that communicate control effectiveness, risk exposure, and operational performance to senior management.
  • Oversee the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of finance-specific governance standards, frameworks and operating procedures.
  • Facilitate training and communications to embed a controls culture and governance awareness across finance.
  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Champion a high-performance environment that fosters an inclusive work environment.
