About The Position

The Senior Manager, Global Public Policy plays a critical role in helping Walmart anticipate, analyze, and respond to public policy issues that impact our business and the communities we serve. This role supports policy strategy across a wide range of issue areas, requiring strong judgment, analytical rigor, and the ability to quickly build fluency in emerging topics. You’ll partner closely with internal stakeholders and external experts to translate complex policy landscapes into actionable insights and informed strategies. Walmart’s Global Public Policy team works to advance policies that support our business, our associates, and the communities we serve around the world. The team collaborates closely with business leaders, legal partners, and external stakeholders to navigate complex policy environments at the local, federal, and global levels. This role contributes to shaping policy positions and supporting strategic engagement across a diverse and dynamic policy portfolio.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of applied public policy, government affairs, or advocacy experience with demonstrated impact.
  • Working knowledge of policymaking processes at the state, federal, and/or global level.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex issues and recommend practical courses of action.
  • Experience working in matrixed organizations and collaborating across diverse internal teams.
  • Comfort leveraging tools, systems, or emerging technologies to improve policy monitoring, research, or workflows.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Political Science, or related field and 4 years’ experience managing projects or campaigns in politics, public affairs, or related field OR 6 years’ in experience managing projects or campaigns in politics, public affairs, or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Corporate experience involving direct media relations, coalition building, or direct lobbying
  • Government Relations experience in Fortune 500 company
  • Juris Doctorate OR Master’s degree in Communications, Political Science, or related field
  • Supervisory experience

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze legislative, regulatory, and government activity across multiple jurisdictions to identify potential business and community impacts.
  • Support the development and execution of public policy strategies by contributing research, analysis, and strategic planning support.
  • Communicate complex policy developments clearly and with urgency to internal partners and leadership.
  • Help establish efficient systems and workflows for tracking issues, sharing insights, and capturing feedback across the global policy team.
  • Under leadership direction, support engagement with external stakeholders, including trade associations, NGOs, and policy experts.
