About The Position

This role leads the global ingredient sourcing strategy, focusing on areas like proteins and dairy, to ensure supply continuity, cost competitiveness, and sustainability across Walmart’s Food businesses. The position is responsible for upstream ingredient categories, fostering long-term supplier partnerships, and managing supply in volatile commodity markets within a large, complex, matrixed environment. The Global Procurement team, specifically the Upstream team, collaborates with Merchandising, Private Brands, Supply Chain, Finance, Legal, and Responsible Sourcing to secure essential food inputs, negotiate strategic agreements, and implement resilient, responsible supply solutions.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of strategic sourcing or procurement experience within food or commodity-driven ingredient markets.
  • Expertise in contract negotiation, RFP development, and long-term supplier strategy.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting spend, market data, and cost drivers.
  • Experience driving stakeholder alignment across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage complex sourcing initiatives in a fast-paced, global, matrixed organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, economics, technology, or related field and 5 years' experience in procurement strategy, contract management, analytics, or related field.
  • OR 6 years’ experience in procurement strategy, contract management, analytics, or related field and 2 years’ experience leading cross-functional teams/projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute multi-year ingredient category strategies, such as proteins and dairy, focused on resiliency, total cost of ownership, and sustainability.
  • Lead competitive RFPs and negotiate long-term and preferred supplier agreements that secure capacity and mitigate commercial risk.
  • Partner cross-functionally to align sourcing strategies with business priorities and deliver measurable savings.
  • Analyze commodity markets, pricing trends, and spend data to inform sourcing decisions and protect supply continuity.
  • Advance regenerative and responsible sourcing initiatives across ingredient categories.
