About The Position

The National Alliance for Public Charter Schools, the leading national nonprofit dedicated to advancing the charter school movement, is seeking a talented and motivated professional to join its team. The Senior Manager of Policy reports to the Senior Director of Policy and will support policy and advocacy activities designed to expand access to charter school federal funding sources as well as increase support of charter schools more broadly at the federal level.

Requirements

  • Commitment to education reform, the charter school movement, and the mission of the National Alliance.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least four (4) years of relevant, policy-related work experience.
  • Ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines and manage multiple tasks in an efficient manner.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, track details and data, and high level of personal responsibility.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others – setting goals, resolving problems, and making decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Experience building partnerships with local leaders and organizations whose mission coordinates with the organization's.
  • Tremendous familiarity and comfort with all things Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using Excel and managing a database system.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization’s regulatory agenda, including tracking and analyzing regulatory processes governing key programs impacting charter schools and develop, with broad stakeholder input, comments on behalf of the charter school community.
  • Lead professional learning focused on the federal Charter Schools Program (CSP), including managing a community of practice for CSP applicants and grantees to ensure that sector partners can access and implement CSP grants with fidelity.
  • Develop, manage, and present content related to the organization’s legislative and regulatory agenda, including the development of high-quality programming for the National Charter Schools Conference and other stakeholder meetings.
  • Support a robust federal regulatory agenda across several agencies with creative, thorough, and thoughtful policy analysis and development.
  • Support relationship development and management of key policy partners and Administration officials to collect input and promote alignment on key policy priorities across the charter school community.
  • Support the Government Relations team with high-quality collateral and talking points on important policy issues facing the sector.
  • Regularly attend and report out on seminars and briefings that pertain to charter schools, school choice, and education reform to support partnership development and growth.
