About The Position

The Senior Manager, Platform Engineering & Architecture serves as the technical anchor for the Technology track within VIRA Insight’s Product, Technology, Analytics (PTA) organization. This role is responsible for platform architecture, engineering standards, and scalable solution delivery across enterprise applications, integrations, and cloud environments. The position partners closely with Product, Data, and business stakeholders to translate strategy into secure, high-performing systems. This role will own end-to-end platform architecture and engineering standards; design scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise solutions across ERP, WMS, TMS, and integration layers; and establish CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud best practices that accelerate delivery velocity while maintaining system reliability. The Lead Engineer will drive modernization initiatives across infrastructure and applications, mentor engineers across onshore and GCC teams, and ensure that every technical decision aligns with VIRA Insight’s business growth objectives and security requirements.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to define and own enterprise platform architecture with a strong balance of strategic thinking and hands-on engineering execution.
  • Demonstrated experience designing scalable, secure, and resilient solutions across enterprise application ecosystems (ERP, WMS, TMS, CRM, custom applications).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, fulfillment, and project-based operational workflows and their technology requirements.
  • Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern DevOps practices.
  • Expertise in integration architecture, API design (REST, event-driven, message queues), middleware, and cross-system data flow patterns.
  • Strong proficiency in one or more enterprise development languages/frameworks (C#/.NET, Java, Python, Node.js, TypeScript) with demonstrated full-stack capability.
  • Track record of driving platform modernization, reducing technical debt, and improving deployment velocity in complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience embedding security into the engineering lifecycle, including secure coding practices, vulnerability management, and compliance-driven controls.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts, trade-offs, and recommendations to both engineering teams and non-technical business stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and establishing engineering standards in distributed or global team environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in software engineering, platform architecture, or enterprise application development.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a lead or senior technical role with responsibility for architecture decisions, engineering standards, and mentoring engineers.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing, logistics, or similar operational environment with a strong understanding of ERP-driven business processes and system integration challenges.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud-native architectures and hybrid cloud deployments across AWS and/or Azure.
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and infrastructure-as-code in production environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with an ERP platform, including customization, integration, and extension development.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 ecosystem, identity and access management (Azure AD/Entra ID), and endpoint management solutions.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools (Datadog, New Relic, Grafana, ELK stack, or equivalent).
  • Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect) or security (CompTIA Security+, CISSP).
  • Experience building or contributing to a Global Capability Center or distributed engineering organization.
  • Knowledge of ITIL-aligned IT service management practices, including change management and incident response.
  • Experience with barcode scanning, EDI, and workflow automation technologies in manufacturing or warehouse environments.

Responsibilities

  • Platform Architecture & Engineering Standards Own end-to-end platform architecture across VIRA Insight’s enterprise application landscape, including ERP, CRM, WMS, TMS, and custom-built solutions.
  • Define and enforce engineering standards, coding conventions, code review practices, and architectural decision records (ADRs) that ensure consistency, quality, and maintainability across all technology deliverables.
  • Establish and maintain an enterprise architecture blueprint covering infrastructure, cloud, identity, network, application, and integration layers.
  • Lead technical design reviews and architectural governance processes, ensuring proposed solutions meet scalability, security, performance, and cost requirements before development begins.
  • Evaluate and recommend technology selections (frameworks, languages, platforms, tools) based on fitness for purpose, team capability, long-term maintainability, and total cost of ownership.
  • Enterprise Application Development & Modernization Design scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise solutions that support manufacturing, fulfillment, logistics, and customer-facing operations.
  • Drive modernization initiatives across legacy infrastructure and applications, defining migration paths, refactoring strategies, and phased implementation plans that minimize business disruption.
  • Architect and build custom applications, extensions, and integrations that extend the capabilities of core enterprise systems (ERP, WMS, TMS) to meet unique VIRA Insight business requirements.
  • Ensure application architectures support multi-tenant, multi-region deployment models to accommodate U.S. and Global operations through the Global Capability Center.
  • Partner with the Director of Product Management to translate business requirements and user stories into technical designs, estimations, and implementation plans.
  • Integration Architecture & API Design Design and own the integration architecture connecting ERP, CRM, WMS, TMS, EDI, partner systems, and customer-facing platforms through well-defined APIs, middleware, and event-driven patterns.
  • Establish API design standards (RESTful, event-driven, GraphQL where appropriate), versioning strategies, authentication models, and documentation requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Data & Analytics Engineer to ensure integration patterns support both operational data flow and analytics/reporting requirements seamlessly.
  • Build and maintain integration monitoring, alerting, and error-handling frameworks that ensure reliable, fault-tolerant data exchange across all connected systems.
  • Drive end-to-end system integration efforts that eliminate duplicate data entry, reduce manual processes, and improve cross-functional workflow efficiency.
  • Cloud, Infrastructure & DevOps Own the hybrid cloud strategy and infrastructure architecture across AWS, Azure, and on-premises environments, ensuring cost efficiency, resilience, and scalability.
  • Establish and mature CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices, and deployment automation that accelerate release velocity while maintaining quality and stability.
  • Define and implement environment management strategies (development, staging, production) with proper access controls, configuration management, and promotion workflows.
  • Improve system resilience through disaster recovery planning, high availability architecture, capacity planning, and proactive monitoring.
  • Manage and optimize cloud resource utilization, identifying opportunities to reduce costs through right-sizing, reserved instances, spot usage, and architectural improvements.
  • Security & Performance Engineering Embed security into the engineering lifecycle through secure coding practices, dependency scanning, static/dynamic analysis, and security-focused code reviews.
  • Ensure performance, security, and reliability SLAs are met across all enterprise systems, establishing baseline metrics, monitoring dashboards, and alerting thresholds.
  • Partner with the cybersecurity program to implement security controls aligned with ISO 27001 principles, including identity and access management, data protection, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Conduct performance engineering reviews for critical systems, identifying bottlenecks, optimizing queries and workloads, and ensuring systems scale with business growth.
  • Define and enforce incident response procedures for production systems, including escalation paths, root cause analysis standards, and post-incident review processes.
  • Team Leadership & GCC Collaboration Mentor and guide engineers across onshore and GCC (India-based) teams in platform engineering best practices, architecture standards, code quality, and professional development.
  • Lead technical hiring assessments, defining evaluation criteria and conducting technical interviews for engineering candidates across onshore and GCC teams.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and sprint execution alongside Product and Data tracks, ensuring technology deliverables meet quality, performance, and timeline expectations.
  • Establish knowledge-sharing practices (tech talks, architecture forums, documentation standards) that build engineering capability and reduce key-person dependencies.
  • Contribute to the establishment of the Global Capability Center by defining engineering competency frameworks, onboarding standards, and technical training programs.
  • Cross-Track Partnership & Delivery Partner with the Director of Product Management and Technical Product Owner to translate business requirements into technical designs with clear estimates, dependencies, and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Data & Analytics Engineer on shared platform concerns including data pipelines, integration patterns, API contracts, and infrastructure utilization.
  • Work closely with IT Operations to ensure smooth handoffs from development to production, contributing to ITIL-aligned change management, release management, and incident response processes.
  • Provide technical input to the Senior Director of IT on roadmap prioritization, technology investment decisions, vendor evaluations, and build-vs-buy assessments.
  • Ensure seamless collaboration across Product, Technology, and Data tracks through clear communication, shared documentation, and aligned delivery practices.
