About The Position

The Senior Manager, People Relations & Risk, leads People & Labor Relations, Legal/Risk & Compliance, and Loss Prevention within the People Department. This role partners with senior leaders to prevent, identify, and remediate people-related, legal, safety, and security risks that could harm our Memory Makers, guests, operations, or the Company’s reputation—overseeing investigations, litigation liaison, regulatory compliance, workplace safety programs, incident analysis, internal controls, and training to ensure a safe, compliant, and resilient workplace.

Requirements

  • Supervise 2 direct reports overseeing a team of up to 10.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Law, Business Administration or related discipline.
  • 5-7 years or more handling escalated people relations/investigation experience.
  • 3-5 years or more in risk assessment/management experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Thorough knowledge of health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Extensive attention to detail to distinguish safety hazards.
  • Ability to provide detailed reports and develop policies and procedures.
  • Excellent conflict management and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, meeting and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational, leadership and motivational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks when handling multiple competing priorities.
  • Ability to handle private, sensitive and confidential information appropriately

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree such as MA, MBA, MS, or JD preferred.
  • Certification in risk management and health/safety management a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team handling compliance, safety, and complex workplace investigations; serve as escalation point for high-risk people relations cases.
  • Provide people relations counsel to senior leaders, coaching on conflict resolution, performance management, discipline, and application of HR and organizational policies to mitigate legal and reputational risk.
  • Manage employment- and guest-related litigation processes; coordinate with outside counsel to control legal exposure and preserve evidence.
  • Own occupational health, safety, and security programs (workers’ compensation, OSHA training/reporting, disaster preparedness, contingency planning) with a focus on minimizing people-related risk and operational disruption.
  • Monitor, update, and adapt safety procedures and workplace practices to reduce injury risk, harassment, and other people-safety incidents.
  • Maintain accurate safety, incident, and workers’ compensation records to support claims management, regulatory reporting, and trend analysis.
  • Analyze incident reports, metrics, root causes, and injury/complaint case studies to implement preventive actions that lower people risk and improve workplace well-being.
  • Lead safety and people-relations meetings, workplace audits, and inspections to identify hazards, policy gaps, and corrective actions.
  • Manage compliance programs and develop policies/procedures that ensure adherence to local, state, and federal employment, safety, and industry-specific laws with a people-risk lens.
  • Ensure governance of people-related activities meets regulatory and ethical requirements to protect employees, guests, and the organization.
  • Oversee internal controls and audit systems that detect people-risk exposures (e.g., discrimination, retaliation, unsafe practices) and report remediation progress.
  • Implement risk-based compliance testing of HR, safety, and operational controls to identify, escalate, and correct noncompliance affecting people and business continuity.
  • Conduct regular audits of business policies, procedures, and practices to mitigate employment, safety, and regulatory risks.
  • Design and maintain control systems and escalation protocols to address violations of legal requirements and internal policies impacting people.
