About The Position

The Test Solutions (TS) Engineering Center is seeking a Section Leader. As a Section Leader you will lead Mechanical Engineering professionals responsible for all elements of mechanical engineering design through all lifecycles to include but not limited to development, transition to production, design verification, qualification, and manufacturing acceptance of final product going to the customer.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
  • Minimum of 10 years of prior relevant professional mechanical engineering experience.
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
  • Experience in a “Customer" oriented environment.
  • Experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience presenting to leadership and peers.
  • Active DoD issued Secret Clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in one of the aforementioned disciplines. ABET accreditation preferred.
  • Previous experience with career development and personal skills development of team members.
  • Experience developing TE for production test environments.
  • Experience with CAD solid modeling tools and analysis tools with an emphasis on ProE / CREO Parametric.
  • Experience working in Agile development process.
  • Experience working with Program Management principles and tools such as IMS, PMX tools, or tracking books.
  • Experience with Proposal Capture Process (development of compliant Basis of Estimates).
  • Experience with Estimate at Complete (EAC) process and Engineering Labor Forecasting (ELF) systems.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a team of approximately 10–20 members.
  • Set meaningful, measurable goals and communicate effectively to ensure your team is aligned with both department and directorate objectives.
  • Conduct formal and informal performance reviews, hold career development discussions, and lead by example while upholding our core Values and Behaviors: Trust, Respect, Collaboration, Innovation, and Accountability.
  • Collaborate with multi‑discipline teams on the operation, testing, and troubleshooting of systems.
  • Perform independent health checks by evaluating program metrics.
  • Engage with Program Managers, Chief Engineers, Cross Product Team/Directorate Leads, and other functional leaders to drive results that support program and business unit goals.
  • Contribute to Test Equipment Engineering hiring efforts.
  • Oversee the onboarding of new section personnel.
