About The Position

The Senior Manager of Programs leads the implementation and evaluation of strategic initiatives that advance inclusive education and expand access to special education resources. This role serves as a subject matter resource on inclusive education while applying a broad understanding of disability-related issues, including employment, family support, and accessibility, to support program development and organizational priorities. Working collaboratively across departments, the Senior Manager partners closely with the Development team to ensure the successful implementation of grant-funded programs, fulfillment of grant requirements, and stewardship of funder relationships. The position requires strategic thinking, strong project management skills, and the ability to build effective partnerships that advance the organization's mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit program management, disability advocacy, inclusive education, special education, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and evaluating programs that support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), their families, and other key stakeholders.
  • Experience managing grant-funded programs, including grant implementation, compliance, budgeting, reporting, and funder stewardship.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strategic partnerships with funders, chapter affiliates, community organizations, and other external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and provide guidance to team members in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent public speaking, facilitation, and presentation skills, with experience representing an organization to diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines.
  • Experience developing and managing program budgets, monitoring expenditures, and maintaining program work plans.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, navigate ambiguity, and work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree preferred.
  • Experience managing or supporting online learning platforms, Learning Management Systems (LMS), websites, or other digital education resources is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the implementation and ongoing administration of a new inclusive education program initiative while ensuring the continuity and effectiveness of existing education programs and resources.
  • Collaborate closely with leadership to execute the program's strategic vision, incorporating guidance and direction into program planning, implementation, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with the Development team to identify and cultivate new funding opportunities and strategic partnerships that support program priorities, strengthen funder relationships, and advance the organization's mission.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key funders, chapter representatives, and leaders across The Arc network and the broader disability community to foster collaboration, strengthen partnerships, and advance program objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization to identify, develop, and expand partnerships with corporations, foundations, and other strategic partners that support program initiatives and organizational priorities.
  • Represent The Arc in external meetings, steering committees, advisory groups, boards, and other collaborative forums to strengthen partnerships, advance organizational priorities, and promote inclusive education initiatives.
  • Manage the implementation of education-focused programs and grant-funded initiatives by providing guidance to team members, coordinating internal and external meetings, monitoring budgets and expenditures, overseeing application and reporting processes, and cultivating strong relationships with funders and key stakeholders.
  • Manage The Arc's online special education resource hub, including the Learning Management System (LMS) and advocacy website, ensuring content remains current, accessible, and responsive to the needs of constituents while supporting organizational education initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to develop and execute strategic marketing and promotional plans that increase awareness, engagement, and utilization of The Arc's education advocacy resources.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure program development and implementation align with The Arc's strategic plan while effectively managing funder expectations and supporting the successful execution of program objectives.
  • Deliver presentations and facilitate training sessions for state and local chapters, national organizations, and other stakeholders to promote inclusive education initiatives, share best practices, and advance program objectives.
