About The Position

Airbus is seeking a FAR-compliant costing expert to lead the financial architecture for critical domestic and international government proposals. The Senior Manager of Military Costing will report to the Head of Costing and Offer Evaluation, bridging complex federal regulations with business profitability. This role requires over 10 years of experience with FAR 12/15 and the ability to mentor high-performing teams, driving the company's growth.

Requirements

  • BS Accounting or Finance or equivalent in experience and education
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience preparing FAR 12 type U.S. Government Proposals
  • Understanding of FAR 12 commercial item contract requirements
  • Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Travel Required: 5% Domestic and International
  • Citizenship: Must be a US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license)
  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. 2-3 times a year, carries 5-10lbs. on a daily basis.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. 2-3 times a year, carries 5-10 lbs. on a daily basis
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site.
  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees cost and pricing for a range of proposals, including domestic and international opportunities of varying complexity.
  • Ensures costing information provided is timely, accurate, and supportable in response to requests.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for company responses to U.S. Government agency (e.g., DCAA) audits.
  • Collaborates with other departments to gather information in a timely fashion to meet deadlines.
  • Ensures functional areas understand the substantiation required to support their estimates for each proposal.
  • Creates business cases providing management with sufficient cost, margin, and price information and analysis for proposed and established prices to support business decisions.
  • Leads the finance offer evaluation process to retrieve necessary approvals for offer release.
  • Manages, develops, mentors, and coaches staff to ensure they exhibit company core values and behaviors, interact professionally, and maintain/improve necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Provides training to colleagues on templates for gathering costing information for proposals.
  • Fosters an innovative mindset to continually improve processes and ways of working.
  • Creates basis of estimates (BOE) for proposals as justification for pricing to customers.
  • Trains team and colleagues on the use of BOEs for proposal development.
  • Contributes to writing pricing content in proposals submitted to the customer.
  • Meets company internal and customer external requirements necessary for contract negotiations and award.
