About The Position

The Senior Manager of Manufacturing Operations is responsible for the technical management, supervision, and control of industrial production processes at assigned locations. The role ensures established standards and metrics for safety, quality, production, customer service, and people management are achieved, and that corporate goals and objectives are met at all levels. The position oversees end-to-end lab operations, operational performance, budgets and resources, continuous improvement, quality, staffing and capacity planning, equipment and facilities, inventory, and customer service. It also leads and develops employees and manages hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and corrective action. The manager works cross-functionally with engineering, maintenance, quality, and customer service to improve operations and resolve issues.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent experience.
8–10+ years of experience leading teams in a lean manufacturing or production environment.
Proven experience in high-volume, complex production environments.
Ability to develop strategic plans and drive execution.
Ability to lead change and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Proven ability to build, develop, and engage teams, including leadership development.
Skill in resolving conflict and managing employee relations issues effectively.
Experience managing budgets, expenses, and operational performance metrics.
Ability to analyze data, workflow, and production trends to drive improvements.
Strong verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization.
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn systems such as SAP or equivalent ERP systems.
Ability to travel as needed to support lab operations.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in Business or a related field.
Experience in the optical manufacturing industry.
Advanced experience applying Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies in production environments.

Responsibilities

Lead and enforce safety, compliance, and regulatory standards, including EH&S, OSHA, and EPA requirements.
Oversee end-to-end lab operations, including production flow, quality, turnaround time, and service levels.
Drive operational performance and efficiency through budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and resource allocation.
Analyze data, trends, and performance metrics to identify gaps, set strategy, and drive continuous improvement.
Implement and sustain Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement initiatives to improve quality, yield, and productivity.
Ensure quality standards are consistently met in work inspection and audit processes.
Monitor and optimize workflow, staffing, and capacity planning to meet production and service demands.
Establish and drive accountability for production, quality, safety, and cost performance metrics.
Lead, coach, and develop employees, building capability, engagement, and succession pipelines.
Manage hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and corrective action.
Foster a positive, engaging, and inclusive environment reflecting company values, teamwork, and accountability.
Partner cross-functionally with engineering, maintenance, quality, and customer service to improve operations and resolve issues.
Oversee equipment, facilities, and maintenance performance.
Manage inventory control and asset utilization to support operational efficiency and cost control.
Maintain customer focus and ensure service levels, accuracy, and responsiveness meet expectations.
Ensure training and cross-training programs build skill depth, flexibility, and operational resilience.
Travel as needed to support lab operations.
