About The Position

This role is responsible for leading and driving the entire quote process from initial kick-off through cross-functional collaboration to final customer submission. The Senior Manager will engage in introductory customer meetings, manage customer commercial relationships, and standardize business development and quoting workflows to create a scalable sales playbook. The position also involves continuous assessment of the commercial lifecycle, strategic growth planning aligned with manufacturing capabilities, and ownership of pricing strategies and program profitability. Additionally, the role includes developing a commercial training playbook for new hires, championing margin optimization through VA/VE programs, and demonstrating an ambitious and agile approach to business development.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field required
  • 5-10 years of experience in account management related to a major OEM customer/ Tier One supplier.
  • 3-5 years of experience working with an OEM customer with intimate knowledge of their business, processes and systems.
  • Valid driver’s license required for business travel
  • Work beyond the traditional 40 hours per week may be required as workload or projects dictate
  • Advanced/Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Hands-on approach to problem solving and analysis
  • Excellent Analytical Skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive the entire quote process from initial kick-off through cross-functional collaboration to final customer submission, proactively soliciting feedback.
  • Lead introductory customer meetings and deliver the Carlex corporate presentation, successfully positioning the organization for future RFQ opportunities.
  • Manage all aspects of the customer commercial relationship.
  • Document and implement standardized business development and quoting workflows to create a scalable, repeatable "sales playbook" for the organization.
  • Continuous assessment of the end-to-end commercial lifecycle, formalizing quote-retrospective tracking to capture lessons learned and continuously improve future proposal accuracy.
  • Align new business target identification with Carlex’s current manufacturing capabilities and open plant capacity, ensuring a profitable pipeline that optimizes asset utilization.
  • Maintain absolute ownership of pricing strategies, program profitability, and competitive landscape analysis for assigned customer accounts, ensuring pursuits meet or exceed internal financial hurdles.
  • Author and maintain a standardized commercial training playbook, ensuring all new hires are effectively scaled on Carlex processes, capabilities, and quote-to-submission workflows.
  • Drive the commercial coordination of VA/VE programs, partnering with technical and plant teams to identify, track, and implement cost-saving ideas that enhance profitability throughout the product lifecycle.
