About The Position

The Discount Strategy Team oversees the strategy, planning, execution, and optimization of all discount strategies to drive profitable growth and consumer engagement. This team works closely with internal partners such as Merchandising, Pricing, Digital, and Marketing leadership to develop best-in-class promotional strategies across all vehicles. The Sr. Manager is responsible for analyzing discount strategies to create clear, compelling, profitable promotions across the business, which includes organizing and prioritizing key areas of focus to facilities efficient decision making. The team uses deep category and consumer knowledge to analyze market trends and dynamics, develop promotional events that drive consumer engagement, analyze and optimize promotional effectiveness, understand vendor/brand economics and productivities, drive customer loyalty and related optimization opportunities across various levers. The Senior Manager, Discount Strategy is charged with developing and driving a portfolio of profitable growth initiatives in partnership with Category Managers and Price Value Strategy leadership. The Senior Managers oversee the budget and project execution plan for multiple initiatives. The Senior Manager will report to the Promo Strategy Director.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience leading strategic/commercial projects with significant business impact
  • 5+ years working in consulting, retail, or equivalent experience
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to prioritize and deliver on multiple concurrent initiatives that have significant financial impact.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize facts and insights into concrete, actionable strategies, and tactical plans.
  • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization

Nice To Haves

  • Merchandising familiarity - understanding of retail merchandising basics (i.e., Category Management), and merchandising organizational structures and processes
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a P&L
  • Retail/CPG experience and/or experience analyzing large customer / transaction data sets
  • Mastery of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience using Tableau, SQL, Power BI and other technical tools a plus
  • Ability to concisely present to senior leaders and build trust
