About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Manager, Mechanical Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in Irvine, CA. This role will own rapidly developed, ruggedized product introduction in addition to scaling legacy design concepts to support full-rate production. You will also be leading a team of engineers, and establishing robust design, integration, testing, and validation processes. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Chief Engineer to drive a rapid prototyping, growth mindset to the team while ensuring concepts are developed with the required engineering rigor to scale rapidly to production-ready designs capable of reliable deployment throughout the world.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of mechanical/electromechanical design experience in a professional setting with engineering management experience.
  • Proven experience transitioning products from concepts into ruggedized fielded products.
  • 3D CAD proficiency (any platform) and ability to understand and apply GD&T to create high quality engineering drawings.
  • Experience with production processes, including machining, sheet metal, injection molding, welding, wire harnessing and 3D printing to inform design for manufacturability.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in NX/Teamcenter for design, production release, and change management.
  • M.Eng, MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience developing ruggedized electromechanical assemblies from concept to low-rate production for automotive, space, or military applications.
  • Ability to integrate electronic components into mechanical designs (motors, controllers, sensors, radars etc.).
  • Experience with military hardware a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Family of Systems Development from concept through production, ensuring seamless integration, reliability, and performance across Anduril's internal stakeholders.
  • Manage and mentor a team of ~5-6 Mechanical Engineers, driving technical execution and professional growth within the Mechanical Engineering team.
  • Oversee full-cycle Subsystem and Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) development, guiding requirements derivation, mechanical design and system integration, validation and reliability testing, and transition to manufacturing.
  • Ensure engineering excellence by overseeing design reviews, analysis, and hardware testing to ensure product reliability in many of the harshest environments on earth.
  • Coordinate with internal and manufacturing, quality, and reliability partners to ensure high-quality documentation required for high-quality production and delivery.
  • Support critical hardware demonstrations with internal and external customers as needed.
