About The Position

This role is responsible for designing and implementing the business unit strategy in alignment with Walmart’s global objectives and value proposition. The Senior Manager will develop and execute business plans to drive growth, productivity, quality, and service excellence across manufacturing operations, with a focus on Optical Lab operations. Key responsibilities include establishing business intelligence frameworks, implementing operational improvements, managing financial aspects (budgeting, expense monitoring, approvals), and ensuring compliance with safety, efficiency, and quality standards. The role also involves managing inventory and merchandise flow, executing market and retail strategies, advising on sourcing needs, and leading a team. This includes developing associates, setting performance expectations, and fostering a culture of belonging and integrity. The position emphasizes putting the customer first, making data-driven decisions, and striving for continuous improvement and excellence.

Requirements

  • 4 years of senior management experience (i.e., supervises other managers) in a manufacturing, optical, facility/plant operations, distribution, or logistics environment OR 1 year experience as a Wal-Mart Optical Area Manager (level II) OR 2 years senior management experience (i.e., supervises other managers) as a Wal-Mart manager (non-optical)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Engineering.
  • Previous experience in optical manufacturing.
  • Previous experience managing budgets, profit and loss, or other financial responsibilities.
  • Previous experience with manufacturing optimization procedures (for example, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizan, Continuous Improvement, Process Control, 5-S).

Responsibilities

  • Designs the business unit strategy in alignment with Walmart’s global objectives and value proposition.
  • Develops and implements business plans to drive growth, productivity, quality, and service excellence across manufacturing operations.
  • Establishes business intelligence frameworks to monitor Optical Lab trends, enabling proactive decision-making.
  • Implements operational improvements by developing and executing strategic business plans for operations and production, forecasting staffing needs, and monitoring facility performance against the needs of the business.
  • Manages financial aspects in operations and production by preparing budgets, monitoring and tracking expenses compared to budget, reviewing and approving purchases, and monitoring the management of assets and utilization strategies.
  • Prepares, reviews, and/or analyzes business reports.
  • Ensures manufacturing processes meet safety, efficiency, and quality standards, particularly within Optical Lab processing operations.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with company policies, procedures and directives by developing, distributing, and/or maintaining procedures and supporting documentation.
  • Resolves internal/external customer and associate concerns.
  • Oversees state-specific and federal regulatory procedures (for example, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), hazardous waste management).
  • Designs inventory management guidelines to ensure order fulfilment while minimizing shrinkage and costs.
  • Manages merchandise flow strategies to optimize Optical Lab space utilization.
  • Ensures product integrity during store delivery to avoid markdowns.
  • Advises Procurement on sourcing needs to meet market demand.
  • Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs, developing and communicating business plans and priorities, removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance, providing resources, identifying performance standards, measuring progress, adjusting performance accordingly, developing contingency plans, demonstrating adaptability, and supporting continuous learning.
  • Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application, ensuring compliance, and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy.
  • Ensures business needs are met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives.
  • Consults with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders.
  • Solicits, evaluates, and applies suggestions for improving efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Participates in and supports community outreach events.
