Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics and Global Services supporting Caterpillar dealers and customers. Our teams work together in critical areas that leverage digital capabilities, technology and operational excellence. As the Senior Manager Logistics, you will develop, oversee, and strive to maximize the efficiency of the logistics and distribution network necessary to provide end-to-end supply chains. This role will plan for new network partners, designs, and capacity and capability growth strategies to meet targeted customer service levels, network resiliency, risk management, and enterprise strategic goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or 10+ years of equivalent working experience
  • Continuous Transformation: Knowledge of evolving the business to remain competitive; ability to understand, adapt oneself to, respond to and proactively seek changes and innovation in the business environment to improve the competitive advantage of an organization.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Distribution Center Management: Knowledge of distribution center management; ability to operate a warehouse or distribution center that handles the flow of goods from supplier to production to customer.
  • Inventory Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods of inventory management; ability to effectively manage local or distributed inventories of raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods.
  • Logistics Management: Knowledge of logistics and management; ability to follow proper processes and run operations for effective and efficient movement of materials and finished products.
  • Process Management: Knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes.
  • Supply Chain Management: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and use, strategies, practices and tools for controlling the logistical processes.
  • Warehouse Management: Knowledge of the policies, processes and systems of warehouse management; ability to effectively manage one or more warehouses or distribution centers.

Nice To Haves

  • ASCM Certification Logistics Transportation and Distribution (CLTD) highly desired.
  • Experience working in distribution centers
  • SAP and/or Warehouse Management Systems experience

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize logistics plans and processes to meet supply chain demands and ensure customer satisfaction. This includes MGPPs to address performance shortfalls and growth. Must be knowledgeable of industry benchmarks, innovation, and trends in process and technology.
  • Manage a team of staff to evaluate and implement logistics programs and activities in compliance with related regulations for an organization. Responsible for developing a talent pipeline for practitioners, individual contributors, and the next generation of leaders. Must be able to effectively collaborate across the end-to-end value chain across multiple functional areas and disciplines.
  • Develop mechanisms and metrics to monitor P&L and forecast costs, savings and performance for all transportation modes. Understands the data available and the data missing to then develop a comprehensive future looking performance metrics and measurement plan aligned with strategy.
