Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law, or a related field.

  • Deep technical knowledge of U.S. international tax provisions, including Subpart F, NCTI, BEAT, and foreign tax credit rules, with experience applying them in a planning context rather than in compliance alone.
  • Working knowledge of Subchapter C as it applies to multinational groups, including earnings and profits, stock basis, distributions, and internal reorganizations.
  • Understanding of how planning positions interact with transfer pricing and U.S. international compliance requirements.
  • Ability to research technical questions in the Code, regulations, and administrative guidance and write clear, well-supported memoranda.
  • Ability to build, revise, and review tax models.
  • Ability to manage several projects at once with different internal owners while keeping each project moving forward.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience analyzing global business models and transfer pricing-related transformation projects.
  • Familiarity with tax rules in non-U.S. jurisdictions.

  • Strong understanding of how tax planning strategies affect financial reporting under ASC 740.
  • Proven ability to influence executive leaders and drive decisions across multiple functions and geographies.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex international tax projects that support Starbucks' strategic business objectives.

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assess the impact on Starbucks' global tax profile.
  • Partner with external advisors and internal stakeholders to identify and implement sustainable planning opportunities.
  • Lead value chain analyses to identify opportunities to improve tax efficiency while aligning with business operations and transfer pricing principles.
  • Assess tax implications of operating model changes, supply chain transformations, digital initiatives, intellectual property ownership structures, and legal entity rationalization projects.
  • Collaborate with transfer pricing and business teams to evaluate value creation, intercompany arrangements, and business restructuring initiatives.
