About The Position

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager, Integrated Communications. This is a hybrid opportunity based in our Washington, DC office. The Senior Manager, Integrated Communications will lead the vision, strategy, and execution of an integrated content program that amplifies the UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE) mission to create a safer, more secure, and more sustainable world. The Senior Manager, Integrated Communications will shape how ULSE’s research insights and thought leadership reach global audiences across digital channels and plays a critical role in elevating ULSE’s visibility and impact. Requirements

  • Demonstrated advanced level knowledge in content strategy execution and technical storytelling, with strong command of tone, voice, and messaging consistency to translate complex material into accessible narratives.
  • Deep understanding of digital ecosystems, audience engagement and content performance optimization. Experience executing strategy and achieving tangible results.
  • Able to lead integrated content and digital strategy in a mission-driven environment.
  • Proven ability to set strategic direction, interpret, support, and execute organizational strategy while effectively translating objectives into actionable plans and driving successful execution.
  • Demonstrated people leader, with ability to develop high performing teams. Experience setting expectations while establishing and operationalizing clear goals and enforcing accountability for both processes and results.
  • Strong project management skills, effectively leading end-to-end project planning and execution, managing complex workflows and ensuring timely delivery aligned with organizational goals.
  • Excellent communicator and presenter, skilled in conflict mediation, negotiation and influencing diverse stakeholders. Proven capability in establishing effective relationships with others, including senior leaders and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to foster collaboration and partnership with cross-functional teams to develop solutions with broad impact.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to innovate and adapt in a dynamic industry landscape.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, Public Policy, or related field.
  • Minimum 9 years of related work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of people management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an integrated content strategy that elevates ULSE’s visibility, credibility, and mission impact.
  • Implement approach to capitalize on identified opportunities and drive the organization’s expansion and influence within the safety standards landscape.
  • Oversee development and execution of integrated, multi-platform content initiatives across digital channels including web, social, multimedia, and emerging platforms.
  • Manage full editorial lifecycle and strategic calendar to support campaigns and initiatives, upholding rigorous standards for clarity, consistency, accuracy, and brand voice across all channels.
  • Translate research, survey insights, and technical findings into clear, compelling stories and fit-for-digital assets that advance safer outcomes.
  • Lead and develop multidisciplinary team of professionals, serve as mentor to advance capabilities as digital strategists, writers and editors.
  • Cultivate collaborative environment to ensure team success and effective execution of high-quality content across articles, videos, reports, website, and social media.
  • Advise senior leadership and contribute to cross-functional planning, thought leadership development, and organizational storytelling.
  • Serve as a partner to the Director of Outreach and Events to ensure our communications efforts are unified, strategic, and impactful.
  • Collaborate across the communications department and frequently with Insights and Partnerships teams to ensure alignment in external communications engagement.
  • Scope and lead end-to-end project plans, ensure deadlines are met and actively manage milestones and priorities.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, purpose, and accountability within the content and digital team.
  • Maintain continued awareness of industry trends, offering insight to inform strategic decisions and direction of the standards engagement function.
  • Contribute to department initiatives as needed.
