BombasNew York, NY
$120,000 - $135,000Onsite

About The Position

We are looking for a highly analytical, organized, and solutions-oriented team player to join our Operations team as our Senior Manager, Inbound Logistics, reporting to our Director, Logistics. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of direct experience managing the importation of freight from international origins to the US, including responsibility for vendor management, data analytics, expense forecasting, and cross-functional business decisions. This is an opportunity to take strategic ownership of inbound logistics functions across our growing supply chain — optimizing how product moves from international origins into our distribution network. You will partner closely with our freight forwarder and 3PL, while also evaluating opportunities to diversify our ocean and inland carrier contracts. This is an opportunity to shape how we route and move product as our distribution network grows. You will also provide input and support to outbound logistics activities as part of the broader logistics leadership team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience managing the importation of freight and general supply chain logistics, with responsibility for both data analytics and business decision-making
  • Experience across the logistics discipline is valued, inc. ocean, air, dray, LTL, FTL
  • Familiarity with service options, carrier contracts, expense forecasting, and inbound delivery optimization
  • Experience managing third-party vendors, invoice auditing, and large datasets
  • Proficiency in Excel and BI tools (bonus: Looker)
  • Comfort with ERP and WMS systems (bonus: NetSuite and Manhattan)
  • Ability to analyze trends, build forecasts, and derive insights from logistics data
  • Experience launching inbound shipping solutions across multiple DCs and markets

Nice To Haves

  • Clear communicator and reliable cross-functional partner
  • Takes initiative, thinks critically, and owns outcomes
  • Comfortable handling ambiguity and solving logistical puzzles
  • Naturally curious, detail-oriented, and data-driven
  • Qualitative and quantitative thinking — you use data, creativity, and common sense to solve problems
  • Aptitude for distilling complex information into concise and actionable next steps
  • A team player who is willing and happy to help
  • Belief in our mission and understanding of the importance of giving back
  • Inquisitive, love to learn, embrace failure, and never give up
  • Comfortable staying focused while working in any type of environment

Responsibilities

  • Owning relationships with freight forwarders, ocean carriers, warehouse 3PLs, and relevant inbound logistics vendors. Ensuring smooth operations peak and off-peak.
  • Forecasting, and actualizing inbound shipping expenses across the E-Commerce, Wholesale, and Donation sales channels — a multi-million dollar budget that accounts for historical actuals and forecasted market conditions over a 12–18 month horizon.
  • Presenting forecasted expenses versus actuals to the Finance and Operations teams, diagnosing the reasons for variances, and improving forecasting accuracy quarter over quarter.
  • Managing invoice audit processes, including reconciliation, approval of accurate invoices, and dispute resolution for discrepancies.
  • Presenting optionality for inbound transit times by selecting the best service and string based on product needs, country of origin, destination, and cost-efficiency.
  • Leading RFPs for inbound vendors and evaluating new service offerings that complement existing capabilities.
  • Managing the relationship with our current freight forwarder, including leadership of weekly and quarterly business reviews, while also evaluating opportunities to onboard additional forwarders or ship directly with ocean carriers to improve cost, coverage, and flexibility.
  • Collaborating with the 3PL to set and maintain priorities and SLAs (e.g., for receiving accuracy and timeliness) and to troubleshoot inbound issues.
  • Exploring and evaluating drayage and inland transportation options to optimize port-to-DC movement, including identifying alternative providers and routing strategies that improve cost and transit performance.
  • Supporting distribution of donation goods by modeling and advising on the most economical shipping modes based on recipient needs.
  • Serving as Bombas’s inbound shipping subject matter expert for the Operations, Planning, Sourcing, Wholesale, and Finance teams.
  • Collaborating with Data & Analytics on shipping data: ingestion, integrity, dashboarding, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Collaborating with the Sourcing and Merchandising teams to accurately maintain product attributes across systems, such as HTS codes and fabric content.
  • Managing inbound shipping readiness across our two existing DCs, and supporting the launch of new DC nodes as our distribution network expands.
  • Authoring SOPs for new and revised inbound processes, as needed.
  • Managing projects across the inbound logistics space, driving value and service for Bombas.
  • Managing 1–2 Transportation Associates — supporting ad-hoc analyses, shipment bookings for standard and express imports, and monitoring of key inbound metrics such as transit time by mode, cost per unit, and distribution of service usage.
