About The Position

The Senior Manager, Health Care Compliance Officer serves as a strategic healthcare compliance partner to Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine teams, enabling compliant growth through risk-based, principles-driven guidance and decision support. This role operates within a dynamic and highly regulated environment, translating evolving legal, regulatory, and policy requirements into clear, practical, and actionable guidance that supports both business objectives and ethical standards. Consistent with the Innovative Medicine compliance strategy, this position helps advance the evolution from a rules-based model to a principles-based, risk-informed approach that emphasizes accountability, sound judgment, and compliance by design. The Senior Manager partners cross-functionally (e.g., Commercial, Medical Affairs, Legal, Regulatory/Ad Promo, Privacy, HR, Finance) to embed compliance early into strategy development and execution, enhance operational effectiveness of compliance processes, and support elements of the Health Care Compliance program across products and/or centers of excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8+ years of business experience, including 5+ years in healthcare compliance or related risk management functions.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance requirements, including federal healthcare program considerations and FDA-related requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence across a matrixed organization, build trust, and partner effectively with stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, including the ability to translate complex requirements into clear, business-relevant guidance.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced, and evolving environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting or contributing or leading elements of compliance program including design, implementation, or transformation initiatives preferred.
  • Working knowledge of pharmaceutical commercial, medical affairs, and patient engagement models preferred.
  • Prior experience as an HCC or GCC officer/manager preferred.
  • CCEP accreditation or similar certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a proactive advisor to business leaders, delivering actionable, risk-based guidance and compliant options that support strategic objectives and execution timelines.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business partners, providing actionable, risk-based guidance and compliant options that enable strategic objectives while appropriately managing compliance risk.
  • Embed principles-based decision making into business activities by applying sound judgment and aligning guidance to risk, rather than relying solely on prescriptive rules or controls.
  • Assess and manage compliance risk for key initiatives; identify emerging risks and trends; and translate requirements into clear, practical guidance that supports timely and effective decision-making.
  • Lead or support risk assessments, risk-tiered oversight, and monitoring activities; analyze data to identify trends, inform mitigation strategies, and contribute to continuous improvement of the compliance program.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to integrate compliance by design into business processes, systems, and operating models, enabling efficiency, scalability, and appropriate control.
  • Support the development and optimization of compliance processes, tools, and governance mechanisms, ensuring they are fit-for-purpose, user-centric, and aligned with the organization’s risk profile.
  • Contribute to fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, and ethical decision-making, including through training, coaching, and reinforcement of compliance expectations and speak-up behaviors.
  • Provide day-to-day compliance guidance on business activities (e.g., HCP/HCO engagements, business planning, field communications/training, incentive compensation, call planning, medical education programs), ensuring well-informed, defensible, and risk-aligned outcomes.
  • Collaborate with compliance, legal, and other control functions to support issue identification, escalation, and resolution, as well as consistent application of policies and standards.
