About The Position

The Senior Manager, Global Trade Compliance is responsible for leading and shaping 5.11’s global trade compliance program. This role defines enterprise-wide policies, classification governance, and export control strategy to support responsible global growth while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. This leader serves as the primary subject matter expert for trade compliance, guiding cross-functional teams and advising leadership on regulatory risk, market entry, and global trade strategy. In the U.S., the role also oversees import and export compliance operations, including Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) administration, audit readiness, and duty optimization programs.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in global trade compliance, with ownership of both strategy and execution
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in International Trade, Supply Chain, Business, Law, or related field
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, export controls (EAR), OFAC sanctions, and FTZ administration
  • Experience managing CBP audits and regulatory examinations
  • Strong understanding of HTS classification, valuation, and Free Trade Agreements (e.g., USMCA, CAFTA)
  • Experience building or scaling trade compliance programs in a global organization
  • Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business guidance
  • Experience working with external advisors such as trade consultants, legal counsel, or duty program providers

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead 5.11’s global trade compliance strategy, policies, and control framework
  • Own global product classification governance, including HTS, ECCN, and country of origin determinations
  • Lead export controls and sanctions compliance (EAR, OFAC; ITAR as applicable)
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex trade compliance matters and provide clear, risk-based guidance
  • Evaluate new markets, customers, and product initiatives to identify compliant paths for growth
  • Oversee U.S. import and export compliance operations, including FTZ administration, audit readiness, and transaction accuracy
  • Act as liaison with U.S. Customs and other regulatory authorities
  • Lead duty, tariff, and trade program strategies, including Duty Drawback, First Sale for Export, and Free Trade Agreements
  • Establish and maintain denied party screening and sanctions compliance processes across the organization
  • Build and scale compliance infrastructure, including SOPs, systems (e.g., ERP integrations), and reporting mechanisms
  • Partner with Product, Sales, Finance, Legal, and Operations teams to embed compliance into business processes
