Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/ Senior Manager, Global Portfolio Strategy – Portfolio Assessment & Optimization, MTST Location: Raritan, NJ (alternative locations considered) Duration: Limited duration, full-time role ending December 31, 2026 Role Purpose The Senior Manager, Global Portfolio Strategy – Portfolio Assessment & Optimization will lead a defined, timebound portfolio assessment initiative, completing all scope, analysis, and recommendations by the end of 2026. The role is responsible for designing and developing global portfolio assessment process for the platform and delivering a final, data-driven set of product codes for optimization or discontinuation, including a clear quantification of margin and gross profit opportunity. In addition to analytical scope, this role will own the end-to-end program execution, stakeholder alignment, and decision-making process required to translate analysis into action across a complex, global, cross-functional environment. All work, outputs, and recommendations generated by this role are intended to be completed, documented, and concluded by December 31, 2026.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and/or University degree.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience in strategy, portfolio management, finance, or analytics
  • Strong financial judgment with demonstrated understanding of margin, gross profit, and P&L tradeoffs
  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross‑functional initiatives within fixed timelines
  • Exceptionally high standards for analytical rigor and documentation

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Degree preferred
  • Experience in MedTech, healthcare, or regulated industries
  • Wound closure product knowledge
  • Prior experience with portfolio assessment or rationalization efforts
  • Project or process excellence credentials (PMP, FPX, Six Sigma)

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute a portfolio assessment process to evaluate product codes against defined clinical, financial, and operational criteria
  • Identify and prioritize codes for optimization or discontinuation using existing data sources
  • Quantify margin uplift, gross profit opportunity, and complexity reduction associated with recommended actions
  • Deliver a final set of recommendations, decision materials, and documentation by year end
  • Develop a clear, defensible, and leadership-ready business case to support decision-making and future execution
  • Lead the end-to-end portfolio assessment effort, including scope definition, milestones, governance, and operating cadence during 2026
  • Establish structured governance, communication cadence, and accountability frameworks across a global, cross-functional team
  • Define assessment criteria (financial performance, margin opportunity, operational complexity, customer and regulatory considerations)
  • Oversee financial analyses quantifying margin and gross profit opportunity tied to portfolio actions
  • Synthesize complex and imperfect data into clear, concise, and defensible recommendations aligned to business priorities
  • Translate analytical outputs into decision-ready narratives for senior leadership
  • Partner with Finance, Supply Chain, Regulatory, Quality, and Regional Commercial teams to validate feasibility and financial impact
  • Drive alignment across functions and resolve conflicts to maintain program momentum
  • Influence decision-making in a matrixed environment without direct authority, ensuring progress under ambiguity and tight timelines
  • Deliver structured, executive-ready summaries, presentations, and decision packages
  • Clearly articulate trade-offs, risks, and dependencies associated with recommended actions
  • Ensure all analyses and tools are developed using enterprise standard platforms (Excel, Power Query, Power BI)
  • Direct and coach a senior analyst responsible for detailed analytical execution
  • Ensure all work products are completed, documented, and closed out by end 2026
