About The Position

We are currently looking for a Senior Manager, Financial Reporting to join our Finance team in a permanent position. Reporting to the Controller you will be responsible for overseeing the month end accounting and financial reporting process, including oversight of internal controls over across the organization, and the leadership of the Corporate Accounting Team.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum of 10 years in an Accounting and/or Finance role, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role
  • Proficient in technical accounting concepts as well as a broad understanding of enterprise financial risk, corporate governance, and process control design
  • Experience with review of detailed analytical work, possessing strong quantitative skills and Excel skills
  • Proven ability to lead a team of dedicated financial professionals to deliver their maximum performance in a rapidly changing and fast paced environment
  • Strong communication, analytical and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work inclusively with various individuals to achieve shared objectives and maintain effective business relationships

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a regulated utility will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the Oracle Fusion financial reporting system would be considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Taking leadership of the Corporate Accounting group
  • Responsible for overseeing the company's month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes to ensure financial results are complete and accurate
  • Responsible for monitoring and execution of internal SOX controls related to Financial Reporting
  • Supporting NS Power's external financial statement audit, including working with Nova Scotia Power's external auditors through quarterly reviews and the annual audit of financial results
  • Responsible for review and analysis of financial results and communication of results to various stakeholders across the organization
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships with business partners and cross-functional teams across the organization
  • Responsible for supporting the on-going development of an inclusive culture within Finance and across NS Power.
