The Senior Manager of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting leads the preparation of external SEC filings, internal financial reporting and technical accounting research and documentation. This role is integral in ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC, and SOX requirements, while supporting strategic decision-making through timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate will bring deep accounting expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and experience in both public accounting and multi-entity public company environments – preferably in the hospitality industry. The base salary range for this Denver role is $125,000/year to $145,000/year. This role is eligible an annual short term incentive bonus with a target of 15%

Requirements

  • CPA required
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with:
  • At least 2+ years in Big 4 public accounting
  • Experience in public companies with SEC and SOX reporting
  • Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance
  • Strong track record in internal controls design and optimization
  • Proficiency with reporting systems such as Active Disclosure and Workiva
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Comfortable in a rapid-paced, evolving business environment
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on, proactive leadership style
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism

Nice To Haves

  • Background in multi-divisional and multi-national corporate environments (preferred)
  • Experience with hospitality-specific metrics such as RevPAR, ADR, and Occupancy

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and filing of all SEC reports in full compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K,11-K), including XBRL tagging and supporting documentation, and assist with preparation of the proxy statement.
  • Prepare footnotes and supporting documentation for complex transactions including leases, acquisitions, dispositions, revenue recognition, debt, and long-lived assets, among other areas.
  • Assist with detailed tie-outs and documentation for earnings releases and financial presentations used for investor and lender communications.
  • Support investor relations with key data and reports used in earnings calls and shareholder communications.
  • Research and draft technical accounting memos and required disclosures; monitor and evaluate new accounting standards and SEC rule changes.
  • Prepare annual goodwill and intangible asset impairment testing documentation.
  • Assist with the production of stand-alone financial statements for subsidiaries.
  • Prepare quarterly internal financial reports, including executive-level variance analyses and dashboards.
  • Assist as needed with production of internal financial reports and ad hoc requests for information and analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX 404 related to external reporting and technical accounting; work closely with internal audit and other stakeholders to maintain and improve internal control frameworks (COSO).
  • Partner with accounting leadership to design and optimize internal controls over financial reporting, including automation and system improvements.
  • Lead coordination with internal and external auditors by preparing complete, well-supported documentation for various accounting matters.
  • Demonstrate the ability to foster productive cross-functional relationships throughout the organization in a fast-paced environment.
