About The Position

As a Transactions Senior Manager, you will be a professional member of our Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) team. FAAS operates principally through 4 main pillars: Enhanced Corporate Reporting & Accounting, Finance Optimization, Treasury Management and Transactions Advisory. We understand the evolving role of the CFO and the Finance function, and work with our clients to automate and streamline efficiency, control, and compliance functions, while simultaneously improving the value Finance provides to the organization. Together with our substantial investments in technology, knowledge, and learning resources available to our advisory professionals, you will be part of the team that delivers fit for purpose financial advisory services to our clients and their stakeholders. Requirements

  • 10+ years of related work experience; or a graduate degree and approximately 7+ years of related work experience
  • Professional designation and/or qualification i.e, CA, CPA
  • In depth knowledge in several of: IPO readiness assessment and management of activities across the IPO lifecycle. Past participation / involvement in an IPO would be an asset
  • Planning and integration of acquisitions across all aspects of Organization / People, Process and Technology including both project management and execution
  • Planning and management of disposals across all aspects of Organization / People, Process and Technology including both project management and execution
  • Audit or business experience in financial statement close and the application of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting, with a preference for experience with SOX 404 or NI 52-109 compliance
  • Technical accounting experience in IFRS and US GAAP
  • Highly developed analytical skills focused on business case and financial modelling
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to think critically and identify creative solutions outside of the box and thrive on new challenges
  • Proven track record with a blue-chip consulting firm in the field or significant equivalent industry experience would be an asset
  • Experience in leading and delivering transformation program/projects that cover the full life cycle of assessment, design and implementation support
  • Strong spoken and written English skills; French language skills is an asset
  • Leading and driving high-quality work products within expected timeframes and on budget
  • Knowledge and working experience on business processes including record to report, plan-to-perform, order-to-cash, and procure-to-pay and asset management
  • The ability to lead and work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Dedication to teamwork, people development and leadership, with experience in managing and/or mentoring junior staff and providing direction to team members
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and presentation
  • A high level of motivation and a self-starting attitude
  • A willingness to travel on short notice to meet client needs

Responsibilities

  • Actively establish, maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships in order to establish and maintain a robust business development funnel for our Transactions service pillar.
  • Help to develop and expand long-term client relationships and networks, as well as develop relationships with team members across all EY practices to service client needs.
  • Provide innovative commercial insights for clients by drawing on relationship building skills, project management, and financial knowledge and experience, adapting proven industry delivery methods and practices to meet clients’ organizational needs focused on Initial Public Offerings (IPO), acquisitions and divestitures.
  • Actively contribute to improving transaction readiness, operational and reporting efficiency, and effective decision making.
  • Spend a majority of time supporting local business development activities and client engagement teams, working with a wide variety of clients, across multiple sectors, to deliver professional services.
  • Lead external client consulting engagements focused on the planning and execution of Transactions initiatives (including planning and execution of IPOs, and/or the planning and execution of acquisitions and divestitures), looking at a company’s internal finance and accounting processes and advising clients on solutions to increase deal value / benefits, improve processing efficiency, drive automation or reengineer existing processes to better align with future state target operating models.
  • Lead business development initiatives including service offering development and roll-out, proposal development, responding to RFX’s and participating in oral presentations.
  • Stay informed of changing market conditions and new regulatory developments and their impacts on clients.
  • Specialize in our Transactions service offering to provide subject matter expertise and relevant go-to-market activities in this area.
  • Manage the financial and commercial aspects of engagements by organizing staffing, tracking fees and communicating issues to project leaders.
  • Build strong internal relationships within our national and global FAAS practice and across EY’s service lines including Advisory, Tax and Assurance.
  • Prioritize the development of people through effective coaching, constructive on-the-job feedback and mentoring.
  • Foster an innovative and inclusive team-oriented work environment.
  • Effectively motivate teams with diverse skills and backgrounds.
  • Conduct performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for staff.
