About The Position

BDO Canada is seeking a Senior Manager to join the Expatriate Tax Services team in Montreal. This role involves providing guidance and training to the team, reviewing tax returns, offering expatriate tax advice, and engaging in consulting duties related to executive compensation, global equity plans, and policy design. The Senior Manager will also collaborate with partners to develop the team and explore new business opportunities, participating in business development initiatives to grow the practice.

Requirements

Professional CPA designation
7 or more years of professional experience, part or all of which specializing in Expatriate Tax
Excellent verbal and written communications skills (French as well as English is an asset)
Ability to collaborate with team members nationally
Interested in contributing to the training and development of team members
Bilingual in English and French is required due to the frequent and complex contact with our English-speaking partners and clients in Quebec and outside of Quebec, and the need to draft documents in English, knowledge of English is essential for this position.

Responsibilities

Provide guidance and training to the team in the preparation of Canadian and US individual tax returns
Review of Canadian and US individual income tax returns
Day to day expatriate tax advice, including queries on items such as individual relocations, payroll benefit taxation and reporting etc.
Various additional expatriate tax consulting duties which include researching income tax issues and reviewing memoranda or clients’ letters in the area of executive compensation, global equity plans, policy design and other expatriate tax issues
Work closely with the Partner in charge of the practice to develop and support the team
Explore future business opportunities with partners across Canada with respect to their clients
Engage in business development initiatives to further grow the practice
