About The Position

Caterpillar’s Building Construction Products (BCP) Division is hiring for Senior Manager Engineering for Electrical Systems to be based in Clayton, NC (CMDC), Sanford NC, or Desford UK. As Senior Engineering Manager for BCP Electrical Systems, you will lead a global engineering organization responsible for Electrical Systems and Components for the global lineup of BCP Machines and Attachments. You are accountable for electronic architecture, schematics, wiring harnesses, and BCP Design-Controlled electronic and electric components. You lead a global team and collaborate with our Product Teams, Cat Technology teams, and Procurement Teams to execute the Enterprise strategy for Advanced Technology on BCP Machines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related fields
  • Tactical, Strategic Planning: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical system development experience in on or off-highway equipment.
  • Leadership experience creating and maintaining processes used to design, develop and manufacture Electrical systems, components, and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a global team with Managers based in Sanford NC, Clayton NC, Desford UK, and Thiruvallur, India.
  • Lead the execution of NPI programs, CPI projects, current product maintenance, factory support, aftermarket and production obsolescence management, and supplier CPPD for BCP Electrical Systems and Components
  • Own the Cat Technology relationship for BCP Electrical Systems and Components.
  • Collaborate closely with BCP Technology Manager, Cat Technology Software and Component Groups, and BCP Product Engineering Teams to translate technology plans to executable electrical architecture, component, and systems plans.
  • Communicate regularly and collaborate closely with Product Directors, Engineering Managers, and NPI Managers on program planning, requirements, scope, budget, resource needs, and execution.
  • Develop and grow deep engineering expertise and talent in Electrical Systems and Component engineering capability to support the long-term needs of Caterpillar customers with Advanced Technology that improves safety and productivity.
  • Develop and enhance Agency and Statement of Work relationships to flexibly support changing workloads in electrical systems development.
  • Own the On-Site Supplier relationships for Harness co-development in the US and UK.
  • Plan, direct, and lead engineering staff and activities to ensure projects, initiatives and processes comply with established policies/objectives.
  • Manage and continuously improve product quality, performance, and cost-effectiveness for all engineering activities and deliverables.
  • Manage engineering product and manufacturing process or quality issues, from concept through end of life-cycle, with a particular emphasis on obsolescence in production and aftermarket.
