About The Position

Okta is seeking a seasoned and strategic engineering leader to own the end-to-end Okta Device Access experience. As the Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead both our native macOS client engineering team and our backend services team. You will be responsible for delivering a secure, seamless, and intuitive product that has an organization-wide impact. This is a key leadership role where you will define the strategy across the full technology stack. If you are passionate about building high-performing, cross-disciplinary teams and solving complex problems that span client and server, this is the role for you.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of people management experience, with a track record of leading successful engineering teams.
  • Strong background in either backend (distributed systems) or client (macOS/iOS) development, with a solid understanding of the other.
  • Demonstrated experience in roadmap planning and delivering complex, cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to coach senior engineers and managers, with experience in performance management, promotions, and hiring.
  • Experience leading teams in a fast-paced, agile/CI/CD environment.
  • U.S. Citizen as defined in 42 U.S. Code § 9102; a natural person who is a lawful permanent resident as defined in 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20) or who is a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3). U.S. nationals (i.e. includes citizens and non-citizens born in outlying possessions such as American Samoa and Swains Island), green card holders, refugees, and asylees. Working on a U.S. visa does NOT qualify as a U.S. person.

Nice To Haves

  • Deep experience in the Identity and Access Management (IAM) space.
  • Experience in Device Identity or Device Management.
  • Hands-on experience with macOS internals.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the end-to-end technical vision, identify new opportunities, and ensure a sustainable long-term architecture.
  • Lead delivery of high-quality client and backend services, remove roadblocks, and ensure cross-team alignment.
  • Coach and grow engineers, own the hiring and performance strategy, and build a culture of excellence.
  • Influence cross-functional partners, manage conflict, make tough decisions, and lead by example with a growth mindset.
