As a Senior Manager – Design & Construction with Hines, you will support the planning and delivery of development and capital projects throughout Northern California. Working alongside Development Managers and senior members of the Design & Construction team, you will help manage projects from early planning through construction and closeout while supporting project budgets, schedules, quality, safety, and overall project execution. This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of projects, including residential, mixed-use, industrial, commercial, multifamily, data center, and capital improvement work throughout Northern California. Project assignments will vary based on business needs and provide exposure to a range of asset types and delivery methods. You will work closely with internal teams, consultants, and contractors to help deliver successful projects across Northern California.

Requirements

  • Experience with a general contractor, developer, owner's representative, architecture, engineering, or related commercial real estate organization.
  • Approximately 8–10+ years of progressively responsible experience supporting the planning, design, and construction of commercial real estate projects.
  • Experience delivering ground-up developments, tenant improvements, capital improvement projects, or other technically challenging construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of preconstruction, design management, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and construction administration.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field required.
  • Regular site visits requiring climbing stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and navigating active construction sites.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Travel throughout Northern California and occasional extended hours as business needs require.
  • Availability to respond to project-related emergencies when necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting larger or more complex projects is beneficial but not required.
  • Bay Area experience is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and execution of development and capital projects from preconstruction through construction and project closeout.
  • Coordinate project budgets, schedules, procurement activities, reporting, and project documentation.
  • Partner with Development Managers during design, entitlement, permitting, bidding, construction, and turnover.
  • Support the design process by coordinating architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors throughout each phase of the project.
  • Assist with budgeting, constructability reviews, value engineering, procurement strategies, and project planning during preconstruction.
  • Monitor project progress through regular site visits, helping maintain project objectives related to safety, quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Support contract administration, change management, project reporting, and closeout activities.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, ownership groups, and public agencies to facilitate project delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across project teams while contributing to a collaborative and solutions-oriented culture.
