Senior Manager, Data Science

TouchTunes•New York, NY
•$140,000 - $175,000

About The Position

TouchTunes is seeking a Senior Manager, Data Science to own analysis supporting major commercial decisions, including pricing across its 65,000-venue network and mobile platform, marketing returns, and player lifetime value. This is a senior individual-contributor role that sets the company standard for experimentation, performs hands-on analysis, and independently reviews analysis presented to the CEO, Board, and investors. The role reports to the Director, Data Analytics and partners with Finance, Marketing, Product, and Revenue. The position serves as the senior technical authority on experimentation and causal inference, designs and analyzes pricing and marketing tests, develops customer-value and retention models, and helps ensure tests do not interfere with one another. It reviews external-facing analysis and works with Data Engineering to productionize models in Databricks. The role also uses AI tools such as Claude to accelerate analysis, coding, and documentation, and communicates technical findings to executives with a focus on the decisions those findings support. The role is listed as US Remote, or 50% hybrid in New York. TouchTunes describes a collaborative, inclusive workplace focused on in-venue entertainment, with a hybrid schedule and the option to work anywhere in the world for up to two months per year. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, data science, economics, operations research, or a related field.
  • At least 6 years of experience in data science or advanced analytics, including at least 3 years owning experiment design and causal measurement for commercial decisions.
  • Expert Python skills, including pandas, NumPy, statsmodels, scikit-learn, and XGBoost, and strong SQL skills.
  • Depth in experimentation, including power analysis, constrained randomization, sequential testing, and variance reduction.
  • Depth in causal inference, including difference-in-differences, synthetic controls, and survival analysis.
  • Experience modeling LTV, retention, and churn as part of unit economics used by finance and investors.
  • Experience with Databricks or a comparable Spark environment and hands-on use of AI tools such as Claude.
  • Ability to choose an appropriately simple design, identify when no design can answer a question, and recognize confounding before it produces incorrect results.
  • Willingness to identify indefensible numbers, including when leadership prefers a different answer.
  • Ability to explain advanced methods to executives without diluting conclusions or overstating confidence.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field.
  • Pricing experimentation or revenue optimization experience (strongly preferred).
  • Marketing incrementality or geo-based media measurement experience.
  • Experience presenting to executives, boards, or investors.
  • Music or entertainment industry experience.
  • A good sense of humor for tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Set standards for experiment design, power, and interpretation; determine whether a question is best answered with a test, model, or observational analysis.
  • Design and analyze pricing experiments end to end while accounting for fleet and hardware constraints, and prepare readouts suitable for Board and investor scrutiny.
  • Design and run marketing incrementality tests, including geographic and channel-level designs, and validate vendor and partner methodologies.
  • Build and maintain LTV, CAC, retention, churn-risk, and predictive-segmentation models by cohort and channel.
  • Sequence concurrent tests and shared controls to prevent contamination.
  • Review external-facing analyses, including consultant, vendor, and investment-case analyses.
  • Partner with Data Engineering to productionize models in Databricks so they provide scheduled inputs to marketing, pricing, and finance.
  • Use AI tools, including Claude, to accelerate analysis, code, and documentation, and establish rigorous team practices for their use.
