About The Position

The Sr Manager Data Products & Strategy will lead the execution and ongoing management of data products within assigned data domains or areas of the organization. This role manages teams responsible for delivering governed, reusable, and high-value data products that enable critical business decisions within a highly regulated financial services environment. The Sr Manager partners closely with Technology, Analytics, Data Governance, Risk, Compliance, and Business stakeholders to translate data priorities into actionable product plans, coordinate delivery across teams, and ensure data products meet established business, quality, and regulatory requirements. This role also provides input into broader data product strategy while maintaining accountability for the performance, priorities, and results of assigned teams.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in product management, data, analytics, technology, or related disciplines, including significant experience with data, analytics, or platform products.
  • 2 to 5+ years of management or people leadership experience, preferably leading professional-level employees and/or managers.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data platforms and modern data architectures, including data lakes, data warehouses, and/or streaming technologies.
  • Understanding of analytics, business intelligence, metrics, and related data consumption patterns.
  • Experience with data governance practices, including metadata management, data lineage, data quality, privacy, and data controls.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, cross-functional data or technology initiatives.
  • Ability to translate broader strategic priorities into actionable product plans and team deliverables.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in financial services or another highly regulated industry.
  • Experience with cloud-native data ecosystems such as AWS, Snowflake, or Redshift.
  • Familiarity with data mesh, domain-oriented data product models, or similar modern data management practices.
  • Background in product management, analytics, engineering, data, or quantitative disciplines.
  • Experience preparing and presenting product information to senior leadership and governance forums.

Responsibilities

  • Provide input into data product strategy, standards, and objectives for assigned data domains or product areas, and translate broader data strategy and priorities into actionable product plans, roadmaps, and team deliverables.
  • Manage assigned data product portfolios, which may include advisor, customer, accounts, risk, operations, or other data domains.
  • Prioritize product initiatives based on business value, stakeholder needs, dependencies, risk, and available resources.
  • Adapt departmental plans and resources to address changing business priorities and delivery challenges.
  • Ensure product plans have clearly defined objectives, requirements, measures of success, and expected business outcomes.
  • Lead and manage a team of Data Product Managers and/or other professional-level employees.
  • Establish team priorities and ensure alignment with department and broader data product objectives.
  • Provide coaching, performance management, development, and ongoing guidance to direct reports.
  • Promote consistent practices for product discovery, requirements definition, documentation, prioritization, and delivery.
  • Build team capabilities and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, measurable outcomes, and continuous improvement.
  • Make or recommend staffing and other personnel decisions in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Manage delivery of complex data products and initiatives within assigned domains or areas of responsibility.
  • Coordinate across data product, data engineering, analytics, technology, and business teams to achieve department objectives.
  • Identify and resolve delivery issues, resource constraints, dependencies, and competing priorities within assigned areas.
  • Escalate significant cross-functional risks or issues to department or sub-functional leadership when appropriate.
  • Monitor team execution against product roadmaps, milestones, service expectations, and established measures.
  • Ensure teams apply established product management practices and operating standards consistently.
  • Partner with Data Governance, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Security, Privacy, and Technology teams to implement required controls within assigned data products.
  • Ensure assigned data products comply with established requirements for privacy, data quality, lineage, auditability, retention, access, and other applicable controls.
  • Implement established data ownership, stewardship, and accountability practices within assigned domains.
  • Identify and escalate material data risks and support timely remediation.
  • Ensure product requirements appropriately incorporate regulatory, governance, and risk considerations throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop productive relationships with business, technology, analytics, risk, compliance, and data stakeholders.
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs, establish priorities, and translate requirements into data product outcomes.
  • Communicate product roadmaps, delivery progress, risks, dependencies, and value realization to department and sub-functional leadership.
  • Facilitate decisions across stakeholders when priorities or requirements compete.
  • Prepare materials and analyses related to assigned data product areas for leadership discussions and governance forums.
  • Establish and monitor success measures for assigned data products, including adoption, data quality, reliability, delivery performance, and business impact.
  • Monitor product performance and identify opportunities to improve existing data products, processes, and services.
  • Support business case development and track expected benefits and value realization for assigned initiatives.
  • Use product performance, stakeholder feedback, and business priorities to recommend changes to product plans and roadmaps.
  • Ensure assigned teams remain focused on measurable business outcomes and department objectives.
