Requirements

  • Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise data governance policies, standards, and processes.
  • Lead a small team to ensure data stewardship of data assets, tags, policies and standards are deployed accurately.
  • Establish data classification, retention, access management, and usage policies.
  • Drive adoption of governance best practices across data domains.
  • Define and operationalize governance practices specific to Azure Databricks, including: Permissions & Unity Catalog management, Data lineage and metadata practices.
  • Partner with Data Engineering to ensure architecture aligns with governance controls.
  • Define and maintain data quality rules, metrics, thresholds, and monitoring processes.
  • Implement proactive measures to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data.
  • Lead the adoption and utilization of metadata and cataloging tools (e.g., Unity Catalog, Purview).
  • Ensure visibility into data assets, lineage, ownership, and usage.
  • Promote data discoverability and literacy across the organization.
  • Partner with Security, Privacy, and Legal teams to ensure compliance with standards such as GDPR, CCPA, SOC2, and internal policies.
  • Support audit processes and evidence collection.
  • Identify gaps in data controls and manage remediation.
  • Champion data governance as a repeatable practice and strategic capability.
  • Provide training, communication, and guidance to encourage organizational adoption.
  • Manage governance intake and prioritization for data domains, issues, and initiatives.
  • Perform data analysis when needed using technologies such as sql, pyspark etc.
