About The Position

Bristol Myers Squibb is seeking a Senior Manager, Data Engineer for R&D Strategy and Planning. This role involves creating, analyzing, and enabling access to data assets to support R&D strategy and planning. The position requires developing data ingestion and transformation logic, automating data processes, building expertise in data quality and business usage, and deriving metadata to support data search and business semantic layers. The role also involves designing, developing, and supporting analytic solutions/products, deliberating on business processes and analytical needs, designing and testing plans and scripts, tracking and fixing defects, and providing support during User Acceptance Testing. The Senior Manager will perform analysis and advise on recommendations/solutions. Telecommuting is permitted on a hybrid schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, and five (5) years of post-bachelor’s, progressive, related work experience.
  • Five (5) years of experience with programming languages and analytic tools including Python and R.
  • Five (5) years of experience diagnosing and addressing production issues and implementing enhancements.
  • Five (5) years of experience with cloud platforms and cloud-based environments such as AWS.
  • Five (5) years of experience with data management technologies including S3, Axon, EDC, Spark, Glue SQL, Hive, and Impala.
  • Five (5) years of experience with familiarization with Parquet and JSON format.
  • Five (5) years of experience with databases such as Redshift, RDS, and Oracle.
  • Five (5) years of experience with reporting tools such as Tableau and Spotfire.

Responsibilities

  • Create, analyze, and enable access to Data Assets in support of the R&D Strategy and Planning.
  • Develop data ingestion and transformation logic to generate ready data.
  • Automate data processes from raw data sources to reporting.
  • Build expertise on breadth and depth of data including data quality and business usage.
  • Derive and contribute metadata, reference data to enable data search and business semantic layers.
  • Design, develop and support analytic solutions/products.
  • Deliberate on business processes and analytical needs to recommend and build the right solutions.
  • Design and test plans and scripts.
  • Keep track, fix defects, and provide support in conducting User Acceptance Testing.
  • Perform analysis and advise others in giving recommendations/solutions.
