About The Position

The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team builds and manages a suite of massive scale, integrated cloud services in a broadly distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment. OCI is committed to providing the best in cloud products that meet the needs of our customers who are tackling some of the world’s biggest challenges. This is an opportunity to become a part of the Virtual Networking Control Plane organization, a core OCI team that owns and manages networking resources in virtual and functional layers. We serve internal customers in OCI and external customers that use virtual networking APIs and workflows. The Virtual Networking team delivers Network-as-a-Service that handle planning, provisioning, life cycle management and security of our customers' network infrastructure. We are shaping the management of network infrastructure by providing the flexibility and simplicity of a virtual network but with the manageability and control of a software defined network (SDN).

Requirements

  • Experience managing teams delivering scalable distributed systems and components on a 2–4 quarter horizon.
  • Experience standardizing engineering practices and scalability requirements across teams.
  • Experience overseeing optimization for high‑throughput, hyper‑scale workloads.
  • Experience ensuring effective use of distributed state tools and data plane platforms.
  • Experience guiding teams to design fault‑tolerant, in‑service‑upgradable systems.
  • Experience setting SLO‑aligned durability/availability targets.
  • Experience implementing resiliency mechanisms (load‑shedding, throttling, rate‑limiting).
  • Experience providing oversight for KPIs, telemetry, and moderately complex dashboards.
  • Experience directing design of functional/correctness requirements, fault‑injection tests, and replication/synchronization strategies.
  • Experience ensuring proactive incident management, operational readiness, and on‑call coverage.
  • Experience driving encryption/access control practices, remediation plans, and compliance documentation.
  • Experience overseeing development and maintenance of automation/IaC.
  • Experience partnering with teams on change‑management plans enabling safe patching, updates, and rollbacks.

Responsibilities
