Live What you will do As a member of the U.S. Value & Access organization, the Senior Manager, Contract Development, Provider Contracting serves as the functional people and process leader for assigned Provider segments and contracting portfolios. This role leads a team of contract development professionals and is accountable for translating approved commercial contracting strategies into precise, compliant, and operationally executable agreements while ensuring alignment with applicable legal, compliance, financial, government pricing, and operational requirements. The Segment Lead manages day-to-day contract development operations for assigned segments, including team priorities, workload allocation, performance expectations, contract structuring, drafting quality, portfolio oversight, organizational capability, and execution readiness. This leader establishes consistent standards, governance routines, and continuous improvement practices that enable high-quality, scalable contract development across assigned portfolios. This role partners closely with Coverage & Pricing, Legal, Government Price Reporting, Contract Pricing Execution, Business Integration, and other cross-functional stakeholders to ensure agreements accurately reflect approved business objectives and can be effectively implemented across downstream processes and systems. The Senior Manager is expected to exercise sound judgment, resolve ambiguity, influence cross-functional alignment, and communicate risks, recommendations, and tradeoffs clearly to senior leaders.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of contract development, contracting, legal operations, pricing, market access, healthcare administration, or related experience OR Master's degree and 4 years of contract development, contracting, legal operations, pricing, market access, healthcare administration, or related experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of contract development, contracting, legal operations, pricing, market access, healthcare administration, or related experience OR Associate’s degree and 10 years of contract development, contracting, legal operations, pricing, market access, healthcare administration, or related experience OR High school diploma / GED and 12 years of contract development, contracting, legal operations, pricing, market access, healthcare administration, or related experience
  • Experience leading people, teams, projects, or workstreams with accountability for priorities, deliverables, stakeholder alignment, and execution outcomes.
  • Experience managing or improving business processes, operating routines, standards, or governance practices in a complex, matrixed, or regulated environment.
  • Experience influencing cross-functional partners, resolving ambiguity, and communicating recommendations, risks, and tradeoffs to support business decisions.

  • Experience partnering effectively with Legal, Government Price Reporting, Finance, Coverage & Pricing, Contract Pricing Execution, Business Integration, and other cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the functional people and process leader for assigned Provider segments and contracting portfolios.
  • Lead, coach, and develop contract development professionals, including setting priorities, reinforcing performance expectations, supporting development planning, and building team capability.
  • Manage day-to-day team operations, workload prioritization, resource allocation, assignment coordination, and escalation pathways to support timely, high-quality contract delivery.
  • Own end-to-end contract development accountability for assigned Provider segments, including contract drafting, interpretation, portfolio oversight, execution support, issue resolution, and process effectiveness.
  • Translate approved pricing constructs, commercial contracting models, and provider discount methodologies into clear, compliant, and operationally executable contractual language.
  • Structure agreements to support operational feasibility, implementation readiness, auditability, financial controls, and government pricing requirements.
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve contract development standards, drafting quality expectations, review practices, governance routines, and process controls across assigned segments.
  • Monitor portfolio and process health through appropriate routines, metrics, and stakeholder feedback, identifying opportunities to improve quality, cycle time, consistency, scalability, and execution readiness.
  • Provide guidance and decision-oriented recommendations on contract language, contract structure, implementation considerations, contractual risk implications, and escalation matters.
  • Lead resolution of complex contract development issues, interpretation questions, process barriers, implementation challenges, and cross-functional alignment needs.
  • Partner with Coverage & Pricing, Legal, Government Price Reporting, Contract Pricing Execution, Business Integration, and other stakeholders to support contract development, implementation, operational execution, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Drive modernization of contract lifecycle management capabilities, templates, workflows, reporting, and related processes to support a robust, compliant, and efficient contract development operating model.
