About The Position

Our site in Chaska, MN is seeking a new Senior Manager, Continous Improvement (CI) to join our team. If hired into this role, you will be responsible for deploying Lean methodology including strategy design and deployment, training, mentoring, and coaching of subject matter expertise, and working closely cross the Site Directors in the Minnesota region. This role oversee and support CI efforts at our Chaska and Bloomington manufacturing sites. This leadership position will partner and coach plant leadership and operations teams to challenge the status quo and drive world class performance in quality, customer service and cost.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing, supply chain or operations experience preferred with continuously increasing responsibility.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Continuous Improvement (Shingo, Six Sigma, etc.) program management
  • Certification and or/demonstrated experience within Lean Methodologies, Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Experience running and facilitating Kaizen events
  • Experience in Project Management and successfully leading cultural change
  • Proven experience leading cross functional teams to achieve business objectives; excellent follow through to ensure objectives and goals are continuously met sitewide
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office applications (SAP experience is a plus)
  • Experience as a Continuous Improvement Engineer, Continuous Improvement Manager, or Industrial Engineer within one of the following industries highly preferred: Automotive, Semiconductor, Medical, High-End Chemical
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, a technical area of study, or equivalent work experience
  • Proactive approach to identifying areas of improvement and the drive to implement solutions with a sense of urgency
  • Good training and presentation skills with solid oral and written communication capabilities
  • An analytical problem solver, takes decisions based on facts and figures, sees the big picture and the details
  • The ability to influence decisions across multiple layers of the organization and develop effective teams
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills with emphasis on coaching and influencing others

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years’ experience in manufacturing, supply chain or operations experience preferred with continuously increasing responsibility.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Chemical, gas or semiconductor experience is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001/14000, ISO 45001 environments preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop a roadmap and work collaboratively across two MFG sites to scope and implement improvement objectives to help the plant grow efficiently and in accordance with Continuous Improvement principles for safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Supervise, train and direct the CI Regional team of CI engineers, Co-op’s and Interns
  • Provide coaching and hands-on support as needed to site leader and other stakeholders to ensure that Vision/CI projects are completed in a timely & successful manner.
  • Ensure progress is aligned with the CI masterplan; investigate root causes of deviations and suggest countermeasures to get back on track (PDCA or Plan, Do, Check, Adjust).
  • Be the plant’s CI expert; lead complex cross-functional projects and be hands-on when needed.
  • Drive adoption of digital equipment/process performance measurement systems such as OEE and SPC.
  • Conduct Lean Workshops, 6 Sigma Green Belt training and support SPC and Kaizen Events.
  • Ensure sustainability of past projects and focus on standardization and adoption of improved processes.
  • Coach cell leaders to continuously communicate how current performance aligns with site goals; highlight problems & action items needed to meet target
  • Drive the continuous improvement culture ensuring engagement on all levels from the leadership to the shopfloor. Promote the Bright Ideas program. Recognize and reward successes and celebrate CI accomplishments.
  • Lead the cross functional plant CI Council that is responsible for delivering the plant CI masterplan.
  • Be an active contributing member of the Global CI Council
