About The Position

The Senior Manager, Construction-DS, leads the execution and delivery of construction projects, ensuring completion on schedule, within scope, and budget. This role directs contractors and design partners to maintain compliance with Walmart’s standards and applicable regulations. The position requires proactive risk management, cross-functional collaboration, and oversight of project governance from pre-construction through closeout. The manager drives continuous process improvements, enforces quality control, and provides leadership to project teams. Strong communication and strategic planning skills are essential to align construction activities with operational priorities and enterprise objectives. This role requires up to 80% travel. About the team: The team leads remodel construction projects from planning through closeout, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget. They collaborate with contractors, architects, and cross-functional partners to maintain quality, compliance, and safety standards. Focused on effective project governance, the team proactively manages risks and resolves challenges to sustain progress. Emphasizing clear communication, strong leadership, and continuous process improvement, they support Walmart’s operational goals and construction excellence while driving accountability and fostering collaboration across all project phases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field and 3 years’ experience in construction management, construction administration, engineering, architecture, or a related area OR 5 years’ experience in construction management, construction administration, engineering, architecture, or a related area.
  • Extensive experience in construction project management, including scheduling, budgeting, and quality control.
  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate contractors, architects, and engineering teams to ensure compliance with design and safety standards.
  • Strong skills in contract management, risk mitigation, and vendor performance monitoring.
  • Expertise in cross-functional collaboration with operational and procurement teams to align project goals.
  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring, team development, and driving accountability.
  • Proficiency in strategic planning, change management, and process improvement to enhance project delivery.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and data analysis capabilities to support informed decision-making.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in compliance in construction and real estate management or related area.
  • Experience managing large-scale retail, industrial, or multi-site construction program delivery, including new build or remodel environments, specifically as a project manager or superintendent for general contractors or owners.
  • Experience using construction project management platforms (for example, Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
  • Experience with procurement and contract management processes for construction services.
  • Experience with sustainability, energy efficiency, and green building standards (for example, LEED or equivalent).
  • Professional certification (OSHA10, OSHA30, PE, PMP, CCM, LEED AP, or equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Lead construction project execution ensuring completion on schedule, within scope, and budget while directing contractors and design partners.
  • Review and approve construction drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure compliance with design standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage construction compliance by enforcing Walmart and industry standards, conducting routine reviews, and addressing deviations promptly.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to resolve issues, negotiate change orders, and monitor performance metrics related to quality and schedule.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align construction activities with operational priorities and prepare detailed project status and budget reports.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance project delivery efficiency and document best practices for consistent execution.
