Senior Manager, Compliance Program & Governance

CoinflowChicago, IL
$180,000 - $210,000Hybrid

About The Position

Coinflow is a next-generation payment service provider revolutionizing global financial infrastructure with stablecoins, AI-driven fraud prevention, and instant settlement. The company enables businesses to grow faster with instant settlement, fraud & chargeback indemnity, global pay-ins, multi-currency FX, and unified payouts. Founded in 2023, Coinflow serves marketplaces, fintechs, remittance providers, gaming platforms, and ecommerce merchants worldwide. Since its seed round in 2024, the company has achieved 23x revenue growth and scaled to multi-billion-dollar annual transaction volume. In response to this growth, Coinflow announced a $25M Series A in October 2025, accelerating its mission to power the world’s fastest-moving businesses with innovative, reliable global payments. Coinflow is proudly headquartered in Chicago, IL. This role is crucial for maturing Coinflow's risk and compliance function from a collection of jurisdictional efforts into a coordinated, defensible group-level program. Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO), the Senior Manager, Compliance Program & Governance will build the infrastructure for regulatory change management, governance cadence, sponsor bank management, audit readiness, remediation tracking, and product/tooling development. This role acts as a direct extension of the CRO, ensuring that all compliance-related issues are managed from intake to closure. The individual will be responsible for taking issues, building plans, coordinating cross-functional teams (Underwriting, AML, Legal, Engineering, Operations), and driving them to a documented close. The CRO should not have to ask for status updates; the Senior Manager will proactively provide them. This is a building role in a rapidly scaling fintech with the opportunity to shape the program's future operations.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience in compliance, risk, audit, consulting, or related program management roles, with at least three years in fintech, payments, startups, or banking.
  • Prior experience building or standing up a program from scratch or in a high-growth environment, not just maintaining a mature program at a large institution.
  • A constitutional inability to let things sit open. Track commitments and follow up before being asked. Follow up on quiet threads promptly.
  • Comfort holding people accountable without authority through clarity, persistence, and professional follow-up.
  • Strong project management instincts and a bias for visibility. Ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritize, and build lightweight structures (trackers, dashboards, standing updates).
  • Compliance generalist fluency. Ability to understand regulations, policies, or audit findings quickly, even for new regimes.
  • Strong judgment about what matters, distinguishing material risks from cosmetic gaps and escalating accordingly.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Chicago; this role is in office four days per week.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting regulatory examinations or sponsor bank audits as a respondent.
  • Experience with multi-jurisdictional compliance programs, particularly across US, Canada, and EU regimes.
  • Prior experience designing or executing second-line testing programs for BSA/AML or equivalent AML regimes.
  • CAMS, CRCM, CFE, or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

  • Own the policy, SOP, and control framework that governs the program across regions: version control, approval workflows, attestation tracking, and refresh cycles. Ensure it holds up under testing.
  • Harmonize policies across the US, Canada, EU, and future jurisdictions into group policy with local addenda where possible, and own the policy exception process end to end.
  • Build and run an independent second-line testing and monitoring program for BSA/AML controls (CIP, KYC, CDD, EDD). Own the testing calendar, sampling methodology, and documentation for exams and bank partner reviews.
  • Serve as the program-level owner for bank and payment partner relationships, integrating incoming requirements, controls, and reporting obligations into workflows that minimize disruption to first-line teams.
  • Pre-review bank onboarding due diligence responses before they reach the CRO, and standardize the partner escalation guide for consistent relationship management.
  • Own Risk change intake as the single front door for FinCEN, FINTRAC, EU AMLD, MiCA, sponsor bank, and card scheme changes. Triage, assign owners, and build execution plans, ensuring no open items without clear understanding.
  • Lead audit and exam readiness. Maintain evidence libraries, response playbooks, and document rooms; coordinate responses to internal audits, sponsor bank reviews, and regulatory exams; and drive findings through to closure.
  • Own the risk and gap register. Intake self-identified gaps and findings from partner due diligence reviews, assign owners, and drive items to closure with audit-ready evidence. Escalate issues before they become findings.
  • Design and operate the governance cadence, including the Risk and Compliance Committee, and ensure committee action items are completed.
  • Prepare board-level reporting and maintain a command center for a coherent view of program health across jurisdictions for the CRO, CEO, and board.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering on tooling requirements that reflect policies and SOPs, ensuring workflows in tools act as the SOP.
  • Own rollout planning, acceptance criteria, and training for new tools to ensure Risk and Compliance teams are ready for adoption.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation including base salary and equity.
  • Direct partnership with the CRO and regular exposure to Coinflow's founders, leadership team, and board.
  • Comprehensive benefits, including health and wellness coverage, 401(k), and flexible time off.
  • A clear path to people management as the function grows.
  • Real ownership: the mandate to turn distributed, multi-jurisdictional efforts into one coherent, defensible program.
