About The Position

The Senior Manager, Commercial Strategy & Management (Index, Feeds) is a near-expert commercial authority responsible for driving both the execution and strategy of commercial management across ICE's FIDS business. You will help establish operational objectives and commercial policies for your function, lead resolution of complex and ambiguous commercial problems, and collaborate with Product, Sales, and Business Development to shape commercial strategy — including new product launches, pricing revisions, and platform simplification. As a senior voice in the team, you will also actively mentor colleagues and contribute to the development of commercial capability across the function.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in financial data businesses, with a strong background in Commercial Management, Sales, Account Management, Product Management, or Market Data vendor management.
  • Near-expert commercial knowledge, with the depth and breadth to establish policy, navigate ambiguous problems, and advise senior leaders.
  • Deep expertise in book-of-business analysis, contract interpretation, and revenue optimization, with a strong understanding of the commercial impact of contractual and pricing decisions.
  • Proven track record of establishing trusted, productive relationships with sales, product, legal, business development, and executive stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex and ambiguous commercial challenges through to resolution, bringing stakeholders with you.
  • Strong ability to conceptualize and deliver process improvements that measurably increase commercial and operational efficiency.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Salesforce; strong working knowledge of Tableau and order entry systems.
  • Exceptional communication skills — able to present complex commercial and strategic content clearly and persuasively to audiences at all levels, including executive leadership.
  • A track record of mentoring colleagues and contributing to the development of commercial capability within a team.

Nice To Haves

  • 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience building commercial strategy & policy in collaboration with stakeholders in a global financial data organization.
  • Prior involvement in platform or product consolidation programmers, including commercial repackaging and client migration.
  • Exposure to commercial operations technology evolution, including CRM, order management, or billing platform transformations.
  • Familiarity with AI productivity tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) and an interest in applying them to accelerate workflow.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the senior commercial SME across your allocated business lines, providing near-expert guidance on deal structure, pricing, contract terms, and commercial policy to support the closure of large and complex opportunities.
  • Help establish operational objectives and commercial policies for the function, working with leadership to ensure the team's goals and ways of working are aligned to the broader FIDS strategy.
  • Manage and drive resolution of complex, ambiguous commercial problems — navigating uncertainty, aligning stakeholders, and delivering workable outcomes.
  • Drive cross-business-line collaboration within the commercial team, ensuring deals and strategies make sense across each business line.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and execute the commercial strategy, including new product launches, pricing revisions, and commercial package restructuring.
  • Partner with stakeholders on roadmap planning, legacy platform retirement, and the simplification and standardization of commercial pricing structures.
  • Conceptualize, design, and execute business process improvements in line with set priorities that increase sales and operational productivity and position the function for future growth.
  • Act as commercial SME on the prospect-to-cash workflow, including readiness for platform migrations.
  • Prepare and present commercial insights and strategic recommendations to stakeholders to inform key business decisions.
  • Project manage complex commercial initiatives, coordinating senior stakeholders across multiple functions.
  • Serve as the commercial SME for your allocated business area to identify opportunities for revenue growth through new business, contract renegotiation, and error resolution.
  • Mentor and grow colleagues across the commercial team, sharing expertise and actively supporting their professional development.
  • Lead the adoption of AI-assisted workflows across the commercial function, identifying strategic opportunities to use tools such as Claude to accelerate analysis, enhance decision-making, improve documentation quality, and drive efficiency at scale.
