About The Position

You will lead the LA28 Health & Safety program for one of our Venue Clusters. Reporting to the Director, Field Safety Operations, you will implement and support the execution of safety and health systems, processes and tools that deliver these programs, mentor a team of Managers who operate them day to day and serve as the technical authority that departments across the organization rely on to remain safe and compliant prior to and through both the Olympic and Paralympic games.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety program management, regulatory requirements (Cal-OSHA specifically), and industry practices.
  • Strong leadership and team-management skills across multiple technical safety disciplines.
  • Ability to solve complex functional problems using an agile, experience-based approach.
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of experience; OR Master's degree and at least 5 years of experience; OR 9+ years of specialized work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a large-scale event or corporate environment.
  • Experience developing and implementing health and safety policies from the ground up.
  • Professional safety certification (for example, Certified Safety Professional — CSP), preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the H&S technical and governance function, spanning Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental and Public Health, Emergency Preparedness, and Safety Training and Communication.
  • Establish and manage the processes, systems, tools, and large projects that deliver H&S programs successfully.
  • Manage and mentor a team of direct-report Managers, guiding their work and professional development.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for technical H&S programs, liaising with internal customers and peer leaders across departments.
  • Ensure programs meet regulatory requirements, including Cal-OSHA, and reflect current industry practice.
  • Solve complex safety problems with an agile, experience-based approach as programs scale toward Games-time.
  • Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
