About The Position

The Senior Manager, Closely Held Assets, leads complex engagements involving operating companies, holding companies, family enterprises, and private investments held within fiduciary structures, including trusts, estates, and foundations. This role ensures adherence to regulatory, risk, and fiduciary standards while overseeing a portfolio of moderate- to high-complexity, nonmarketable assets. The portfolio includes minority and controlling interests in limited partnerships (LPs), limited liability companies (LLCs), closely held corporations, and other private investments. The Senior Manager is responsible for the evaluation, monitoring, and strategic management of these assets, applying sound fiduciary judgment and established governance practices. The assigned portfolio will primarily consist of higher profile, higher value assets across a national footprint.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in commercial credit, business analysis or equivalent experience.
  • Financial Analysis & Valuation: Ability to evaluate complex financial statements and determine the value of privately held business interests.
  • Portfolio & Investment Management: Experience managing complex, nonmarketable or illiquid investment portfolios.
  • Client Relationship Management: Ability to communicate effectively with clients and professional advisors on complex investment matters.
  • Decision Making & Judgment: Strong ability to evaluate transactions, corporate actions, and asset disposition opportunities.
  • Organization & Time Management: Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of private business investments, including partnerships, LLCs, and corporations, performing investment reviews, developing recommendations, and determining valuations for fiduciary and fee-related purposes.
  • Analyze financial statements, industry dynamics, and corporate structures to assess risk and determine the value of closely held business interests.
  • Evaluate and make determinations on proxy votes, tender offers, reorganizations, and lead asset sale decisions, including execution and documentation of transactions.
  • Communicate with clients and their professional advisors regarding investment performance, strategy, and recommendations.
  • Partner with risk, legal, and compliance teams and ensure fiduciary decisions align with governing documents, client objectives, and regulatory requirements; escalate complex matters through established governance channels.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on closely held assets while training and mentoring junior team members.
  • Work with internal partners to address complex or sensitive investment matters and ensure appropriate risk mitigation.
  • Performing other duties as assigned, adapting to new tasks or shifts in priorities as necessary to support your team’s and the company’s mission.
