About The Position

Bristol Myers Squibb is reimagining the future of cell therapy and is seeking a Senior Manager, Cell Therapy Manufacturing to support the clinical and commercial operations of their facility in Devens, MA. This role is responsible for overseeing the teams that manufacture both clinical and commercial product, with a focus on 24/7 operations in areas such as media preparation, cell selection, cell processing, and product fill, all in compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP's). The position emphasizes leadership, team development, operational excellence, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline, or equivalent in work experience.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles required.
  • Cleanroom garments and personal protective equipment will be required in designated areas.
  • Ability to work in the vicinity of strong magnets.
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience within pharmaceutical or a similarly regulated industry.
  • 6+ years supervising staff in a management role.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as manufacturing functional area owner and manage commercial and clinical manufacturing teams and areas.
  • Hire, mentor, and develop exceptional people, conduct performance reviews, and identify opportunities for career growth.
  • Champion a culture of exceptional teamwork and communication.
  • Ensure personnel have the appropriate training for CAR-T GMP manufacturing.
  • Build effective cross-functional relationships with Quality, Supply Chain, MS&T, EHS, and F&E.
  • Ensure a culture that embraces safety in the work environment and for patients by complying with company procedures, policies, and cGMP requirements.
  • Plan and execute commercial and clinical operations for a licensed CAR-T product.
  • Establish department goals, track and report KPIs, and drive a culture of continuous improvement through innovation and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Author, review, and approve documents, including standard operating procedures, batch records, material specifications, training materials, and validation protocols/reports.
  • Develop and communicate project goals, strategy, and timelines.
  • Implement and operate manufacturing systems that are technically sound, efficient, and compliant with cGMP requirements.
  • Ensure schedules for people, facility, equipment, materials, and documents are established and maintained to support facility capacity for multiple CAR-T products.
  • Identify and mitigate risks in manufacturing operations.
  • Champion inspection readiness efforts and initiatives for Right First-Time manufacturing.
  • Establish team policies, organizational structure, shift structure, and career ladders.
