About The Position

BDO is seeking a Senior Manager to join their Canadian Tax practice in Markham. This role involves evaluating client business processes and policies, advising on tax policy and change, and developing proactive tax strategies. The Senior Manager will apply specialized knowledge to identify and address tax issues, provide technical and project management leadership for Domestic Tax projects, and ensure quality control. They will also develop and implement strategies for clients to capitalize on business and tax opportunities, including preparing and reviewing tax reorganizations and corporate, trust, and estate tax returns. Building strong client relationships and training staff are key aspects of this position.

Requirements

Completed CPA designation
Completed In-Depth Tax Program and/or Masters in Tax
7 years experience in public accounting
Minimum of 3 years specialization in Tax
Extensive understanding of relevant tax legislation, corporate, personal and trust tax planning and compliance
Value teamwork, client service, and quality in detailed work
Strong problem solving, analytical, and communication skills

Responsibilities

Evaluate client business processes and policies, advise on tax policy and change to meet market needs, and develop proactive tax strategies to make business opportunities effective.
Apply specialized knowledge to anticipate, identify and address tax issues relevant to the client’s business.
Provide both technical and project management leadership to team members for Domestic Tax projects or assignments.
Ensure quality control standards.
Identify, develop, and implement strategies for clients to capitalize on business and tax opportunities.
Prepare and review tax reorganizations.
Review corporate, trust and estate tax returns.
Build positive working relationships with clients and provide effective support for engagements.
Engage in training staff and invest in the professional development of your team.
