About The Position

Walmart is seeking a Senior Manager, Automation Engineering to join the Transportation Engineering team and help architect the future of one of the largest private fleets in North America. This role will focus on advancing yard modernization initiatives to shape the future of our distribution center yards improving efficiency, enhancing safety, and delivering business value. They will collaborate with product, technology, and operations on solution design and deployment. You’ll research emerging technologies, design scalable infrastructure solutions, lead pilots, and operationalize next-generation transportation systems. Collaborating with internal and external partners, the team advances solutions from concept to scaled deployment, ensuring operational efficiency and financial viability. Requirements

  • Proven expertise in automation system design, integration, and troubleshooting within complex operational environments.
  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to leverage tools for hypothesis testing, visualization, and strategic decision-making.
  • Demonstrated leadership in engineering management, including project planning, risk management, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience driving process improvements and operational excellence through continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to develop and present business cases, financial analyses, and ROI evaluations for automation initiatives.
  • Effective communication skills to influence stakeholders and convey complex technical information clearly.
  • Proficiency in managing transportation and supply chain logistics considerations related to automation projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field and 4 years’ experience in Engineering, supply chain, or a related area OR 6 years’ experience in Engineering, supply chain, or a related area.
  • 2 years’ supervisory experience.
