About The Position

This role involves leading the Advanced Quality Engineering team for designated Customer Business Units, managing resource demands, supporting the quote process, and ensuring all internal launch and customer Advanced Quality Planning deliverables are completed on time. The position requires active participation in program reviews, driving the team to achieve launch metrics, and preparing PPAP packages for customer submission. Additionally, the role supports efforts to improve overall quality performance, develops and maintains training initiatives for Customer Specific Requirements (CSR), ensures adherence to Quality Management Systems, and provides operational support for problem-solving. A key aspect of this role is establishing and maintaining strong customer-facing relationships to ensure excellent customer satisfaction, while always adhering to company safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering or Science with at least 10 years of related work experience.
  • Relevant automotive quality leadership experience (5 years minimum).
  • Experience leading others.
  • Experience in Advanced Quality Planning, including strong proficiency with AIAG Advanced Quality Planning (e.g., Control Plans, FMEAs, PPAPs, MSA, and Statistical Process Control standards, etc.).
  • Experience with VDA/ISO/IATF Quality Systems is required.
  • Knowledge of statistical concepts, design of experiments and problem-solving methodology is required.
  • Six Sigma certification or equivalent experience is required.
  • Proficient in the use of a computer and common office software (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work in a self-directed environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including experience preparing problem-solving documents such as 8D’s.
  • Experience working directly with customers and suppliers, particularly in automotive-related.

Nice To Haves

  • Lead Auditor certification is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with the YFAI launch process is highly desirable.
  • Black Belt certification and experience with Minitab software is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing methods is highly desirable.
  • Good mechanical/technical skills and the ability to read engineering drawings are desirable.
  • GD&T proficiency is highly desirable.
  • American Society for Quality certification, such as current CQE status, is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Advanced Quality Engineering team for the applicable designated Customer Business Unit(s), including training, mentoring, establishing goals, performance reviews, and collaboration amongst other AQMs.
  • Successfully manage all resource demands, ensuring proper allocation with capable, skilled individuals.
  • Support quote process, including creation of Phase 1 Quality Workbook, cross-functional engagement with YFAI Manufacturing plants, target setting, and attending customer reviews/SDT meetings.
  • Support all Quality quotes, MSA plans, gauge plans/execution, OK to Ship reviews, dimensional evaluations, and Control Plan development.
  • Ensure all internal launch and customer Advanced Quality Planning deliverables are completed on time, to the required quality expectations, including APQP deliverables for Launch/Program Reviews and a successful YFAI Manufacturing plant hand off.
  • Actively participate in all applicable Program Reviews, LRR reviews, Red Flag Meetings, and launch support plans.
  • Drive the Advanced Quality Team to achieve the YFAI 0-0-0-90-100 launch metric.
  • Support the preparation and on-time delivery of all PPAP packages for submission and approval by the Customer, ensuring a plan to meet on-time PPAP and Customer invoice timing.
  • Support efforts to improve Quality performance by analyzing Advanced Quality metrics, Operational COPQ, Customer Incidents, Customer scorecards, and associated metrics.
  • Develop, lead, and maintain training initiatives for applicable Customer Specific Requirements (CSR) within the YFAI NA organization, acting as the CSR expert and holding quarterly reviews with applicable YFAI Manufacturing plants/launch teams.
  • Ensure the Advanced Quality team is following Quality Management Systems during product/process/launch development (e.g., IOS, YFIMS, IQS, IATF 16949, VDA, etc.).
  • Provide YFAI plant operational support, as needed, for problem solving (e.g., root cause and robust PCA evaluations), and internal/external audit preparation.
  • Support efforts in optimizing plant Operational Quality performance and associated scorecard metrics.
  • Establish and maintain exceptional customer-facing relationships, resulting in excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct all work activities following company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the BU Quality leader.
