About The Position

The Senior Manager, Advanced Analytics leads the development and execution of sophisticated data models and analytical solutions to address complex business challenges. This role provides strong thought leadership across the organization and upward to senior leaders — translating ambiguous questions into trusted insights, recommended actions, and measurable business impact, then capturing what we learn to sharpen the next decision. Responsible for managing end-to-end projects from rapid prototyping to validated, actionable analytics, the role ensures recommendations are credible enough to act on directly — emphasizing continuous improvement and innovation at every cycle. Insights & Reporting is Walmart U.S. Merchandising’s advanced analytics team, delivering a trusted view of performance and what’s likely to happen next. The team combines Reporting — a consistent, trusted source of performance data — with Insights, applying diagnostic and predictive analytics to explain results and anticipate what’s next. Using data analysis, statistical methods, predictive modeling, SQL, and Python, we partner with merchants to validate findings and prioritize impactful opportunities. Our vision: making Walmart America’s Favorite Place to Shop — through assortment, price, experience, and trust — requires decisions that move faster and get smarter every cycle.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in advanced/predictive analytics that directly influenced business decisions, not just analysis.
  • Fluency translating ambiguous business questions into analytical approaches, and findings into a recommendation.
  • Command of statistical analysis and predictive modeling, with enough ML to know what’s appropriate versus overkill.
  • Strong SQL, Python, and hands-on vibe coding — comfort in AI-assisted IDEs and CLI coding agents, with judgment to validate the output.
  • A track record of leadership trusting and acting on your numbers directly — no management layer between.
  • Executive-level storytelling — presenting complex analysis as a simple, defensible narrative with a recommendation, for merchants and leadership alike.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, or related field and 4 years' experience in data analytics or related field OR 6 years' experience in data analytics or related field.

  • Earn leadership trust: numbers and recommendations get acted on without re-litigation.
  • Use AI-assisted development to shorten the path from question to analysis, validating at every step.
  • Match analytical depth to business stakes: deep statistical/ML rigor when warranted, a lighter pass when not.
