About The Position

The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) is seeking a mission-driven professional for a full-time, regular position as a Senior Manager, Accounts Payable Operations at its Washington, DC headquarters. This role reports to the Deputy Chief Financial Officer and Controller and is responsible for overseeing the Accounts Payable function, ensuring accurate, timely, and properly approved invoice processing and payments. The position requires expertise in Workday Financials and AP processes, with a focus on analyzing payment performance, supporting internal controls, identifying automation opportunities, and driving continuous process improvement through technology, data analytics, AI, and innovation. The Senior Manager will collaborate with various finance and business stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen controls, and improve the stakeholder experience.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience, with at least 5 years of experience managing a team.
  • Strong knowledge of Workday Financials.
  • Adept at evaluating processes and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Knowledge of paperless workflow for A/P function.
  • Ability to quickly identify issues and formulate approaches to problem resolution.
  • Advanced computer skills in Excel (understanding v-lookup, pivot, and other functions).
  • Knowledge of accounting and payment software systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to perform detailed-oriented and accurate work.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of internal controls in a SOX environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Workday Financials, Concur, CashPro, Paymode-X, and Bank of America Works systems.
  • Experience with A/P software implementation or upgrades.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic advisory support and ongoing operational transformation for AP operations.
  • Design and implement standardized processes and governance across vendor management, invoice approval, and statement reconciliation.
  • Manage, plan, coordinate, and oversee the operational activities of the AP function.
  • Provide leadership and day-to-day management of the AP team with in-depth experience and knowledge in Workday Financials, accounting, and AP operations.
  • Manage and resolve issues related to the post-implementation phase of Workday Financials, including process stabilization, user adoption, controls, and continuous improvement.
  • Prioritize tasks for the team effectively, multitask efficiently, quickly identify any issues that arise, and propose thoughtful and practical solutions.
  • Proactively use innovation and the application of AI to drive efficiencies and lead the team to use innovation and AI in their day-to-day work.
  • Lead the identification, development, and implementation of process improvements and automation opportunities.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of invoice processing and payments.
  • Manage and oversee primary third-party payment and invoicing to ensure proper compliance with internal controls.
  • Maintain and regularly update AP policies, procedures, process narratives, and internal control documentation.
  • Ensure the AP function and team maintain effective internal control over financial reporting.
  • Ensure the audit requirements and deadlines are met.
  • Set priorities and metrics for success for the AP team and ensure key deliverables are met.
  • Ensure timely month-end, quarterly, and year-end closing activities and reconciliations.
  • Regularly update and maintain an accurate vendor master file.
  • Collaborate with others in the organization to ensure all transactions follow established guidelines.
  • Provide excellent customer service and motivate the AP team to provide excellent customer service.
  • Oversee compliance with sales and use tax and 1099 requirements.
  • Contribute to periodic financial forecasts in support of the budget.
  • Provide regular reporting and ad-hoc analysis to senior management.
  • Crosstrain and work with other functions within Procurement and Travel.
  • Perform the full range of supervisory duties, including evaluating employee performance, making recommendations for appointment and promotion, hearing and resolving complaints, identifying development and training needs of employees, and other related supervisory tasks.
  • Recruit, maintain, and develop staff consistent with business needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
