About The Position

Side by Side is seeking a Senior Maintenance Worker to maintain the San Anselmo Campus buildings and grounds in a high degree of cleanliness and in good functional condition. Requirements

  • Must be able to perform work independently and determine the nature of the work, materials, and supplies required.
  • Must have demonstrated advanced skills and knowledge in building and grounds maintenance and the use of necessary tools and equipment.
  • Must be stable, mature, service-oriented, and able to relate well with staff and children.
  • Must be able to read and speak English.
  • Must be flexible in accomplishing tasks and able to work some overtime for emergency work if needed.
  • Must be organized and able to respond quickly in emergency situations.
  • Must have experience in safe work practices, including PPE and understanding of material safety data sheets (SDS).
  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and be insurable on agency insurance.
  • Must be able to use all mechanical maintenance equipment and supplies safely.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to walk, sit, twist, and bend for brief periods of time.
  • Must be able to perform occasional reaching and/or grasping using hands and/or arms.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • May be required to ascend/descend stairs or ladders.
  • Must have visual ability to read documents and computer monitors.
  • Must have the ability to drive.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, diagnosing issues and performing repairs as needed.
  • Maintain documentation of routine and preventative maintenance for Health & Safety, Joint Commission, and Life Safety compliance.
  • Perform routine repairs to furniture, doors, locks, windows, screens, tiles, interior/exterior walls and trim.
  • Perform routine repairs to plumbing fixtures, water leaks, valves, sump/recycle pumps, clogged toilets/drains, and garbage disposals.
  • Perform routine repairs to light fixtures, switches, receptacles, sensors, timers, and some appliance repair.
  • Perform routine grounds work including picking up trash, repairs to irrigation systems, clearing ditches and storm drains, pest control, maintaining the baseball field and playground, and ensuring lawns/bushes are trimmed/mowed.
  • Maintain all ground keeping equipment such as lawn mowers, chain saws, leaf blowers, etc.
  • Perform routine pool maintenance including checking chemical balance, cleaning, vacuuming, filter backwashing, tile and deck cleaning, and ensuring safety equipment and signage are in order.
  • Perform other repairs and maintenance such as washing/replacing furnace filters, lubricating blowers, servicing exhaust fans, checking water temperature, inspecting fire extinguishers, resetting fire alarms, interior and exterior painting, cleaning and repairing gutters and downspouts, pressure washing buildings, testing GFI outlets, repairing driveways/pathways, minor roof repairs, debris disposal, and special projects.
  • Set up and put away tables and chairs for special meetings and events, and move furniture, file boxes, computers, etc.
  • Pick-up and delivery of donations as requested.
  • Provide occasional janitorial relief work if necessary.
