In this vital role you will be responsible for performing advanced maintenance and repair activities across the Amgen Rhode Island (ARI) site. This role supports equipment and systems used in Manufacturing, Process Development Laboratories, Quality Analytical Laboratories, and other site operations. The successful candidate will execute maintenance activities safely, efficiently, and in compliance with established procedures while ensuring high reliability and right-first-time execution. In this role, you will be expected to work a 12-hour shift (7PM-7AM) on a rotating schedule. This includes extra benefits such as receiving an added 15% shift differential, and also getting premium pay for any Sundays worked. The schedule during the initial on-boarding phase for this role (2-6 weeks) will be administrative (Monday through Friday, approximately 8am to 5pm).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED and 2 years of utilities operations and/or maintenance work or military experience OR Associate degree and 6 months of utilities operations and/or maintenance work or military experience

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of combined education, training, and experience in mechanical maintenance, particularly with sanitary processing equipment and systems.
  • 3+ years of experience working with pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments (cGMP).
  • Experience executing and documenting maintenance work orders using the Maximo Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and technical documentation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate task status and issues.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and interact constructively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities on manufacturing and laboratory equipment and systems.
  • Support equipment used in Manufacturing, Process Development, Quality Analytical Laboratories, and other ARI site areas.
  • Execute maintenance activities safely and in compliance with site procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation of maintenance activities and work orders in the Maximo CMMS system.
  • Communicate maintenance activities, issues, and status updates effectively with system operators and key stakeholders.
  • Execute work efficiently to maximize productivity while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Support right-first-time execution through proper planning, troubleshooting, and adherence to procedures.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies, workflow interruptions, or waste and recommend improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support implementation of identified solutions.
  • Maintain and develop technical skills to improve team capabilities and overall site performance.
  • Provide maintenance support as required outside of normal working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
