About The Position

The Senior Maintenance Technician is a highly skilled, hands-on role responsible for performing advanced maintenance, repair, and preventive care across all building systems and common areas at Bal Harbour Shops. Working independently and as a key contributor on the maintenance team, this position ensures the property consistently meets the highest standards of appearance, safety, and functionality expected at a world-class luxury retail destination. The Senior Technician serves as a technical resource for the team and works closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and property management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of commercial property maintenance experience
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, irrigation, and lighting systems
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with maintenance management systems (CMMS) and basic computer applications
  • Ability to walk the property for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform hands-on tasks
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions

Nice To Haves

  • technical training, trade certification, or associate degree preferred
  • Experience in luxury retail, hospitality, mixed-use, or Class-A commercial properties preferred
  • Professional certifications such as HVAC, electrical license, or equivalent trade certification
  • Bilingual abilities a plus
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and structural systems in common areas
  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules for all building systems and equipment
  • Conduct daily inspections of buildings, common areas, storefront exteriors, hardscape, and infrastructure to identify and address maintenance needs
  • Complete work orders accurately and on time; document all work performed in the maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Respond promptly to after-hours emergencies and on-call service requests
  • Ensure all work meets OSHA standards, local codes, and property safety policies
  • Support and assist third-party vendors, contractors, and service providers during scheduled maintenance and repair activities
  • Assist with tenant buildouts, move-ins, and ongoing maintenance coordination as directed
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and reports
  • Collaborate with facilities, security, landscaping, and janitorial teams to support overall property operations
  • Uphold the prestige, cleanliness, and visual excellence of the shopping center at all times
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior maintenance staff as needed
